Our 5th year at “the green house”
Our family has stayed in this beautiful historic home for a reunion with relatives in the Rochester area for the past 5 years. The house is clean and very spacious. We were able to easily seat everyone for daily dinners between the dining room table and the picnic table on the porch, and we made good use of the gas grill. Mornings and evenings were spent out front on the wraparound porch, watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We enjoyed the kayaks and the game room in the community center, but the biggest hit was the pool which allowed us to visit daily with family while entertaining kids of all ages. Great family memories were created again this year!

Family lake visit
The house was nice, a bit hot with no air conditioning but ceiling fans helped. The laundry access was not at the house but at the pool area. We had to wait for someone to move their laundry out of the two washers. They left it for over 2 hours in washer. Sharing with entire community (washer) that was a little hard. House had an Ant issue in kitchen. Maintenance staff was very friendly and helpful with this. The property manager tried to tell me that the ants were never there before and must be there because we left food out and had little kids. This was not true we did not leave food out, kept everything clean and put away. The ants got so bad they got into our cereal and we had to through it away. I can't believe as many ants as we had that they showed up just because of us. Especially because we noticed them the first morning we were there. Other than that we did enjoy our stay and the area was peaceful and relaxing.

Perfect fit.
Wonderful place for our family week getaway. 7 adults and 2 young boys. Perfect fit for all. The porch (view), yard and facilities made this an enjoyable for all of us. Many kudos to the maintenance staff for some quick work of a fallen tree! Would highly recommend this property, olde school big camp on a great lake.

Lake House Family Gathering
We were pleased to find that the house was well represented in the photos. The rooms are huge, and the views of the lake are amazing. The house is old but in good shape, cozy, and perfect for our family gathering. Our daughters and our grandchildren joined us and there was plenty of space and everyone enjoyed it. Beds were comfortable and we provided our own sheets and towels. We appreciated having use of the 2 kayaks and 2 bikes. The on-site staff was very helpful whenever we had questions. We’d do it again!

Old house by the lake
We had a very nice and relaxing vacation in this house. The house is old (built in late 1800) with spectacular woodwork throughout. It has been well renovated to bring in modern amenities while preserving the original character (no AC, though). The wrap-around porch is the best feature. A small beach is right by the house but at the time of our stay the water edge was choked with stinky muck so we could not swim or fish there. The community has a nice pool but no hiking trails or other active pastime options. The communication with the host was quick and efficient. The only problem was that the property address given to us by the agent took us to someone's house, not to the rental unit which resulted in few unpleasant encounters. Also, the house has beds for 10 people, although the listing says 8. The kitchen needs to be better stocked: knives are dull, coffee mugs are miniscule, and we found only one small cutting board. Apart from these small hiccups, we had a very pleasant stay.

This was a wonderful place for a large family to gather, with many options for young and old(er) on the Troutburg property. We especially enjoyed the pool, the sand area, and the large porch.

Perfect family vacation!
My husband and I stayed with our two children and friends with two children. House was spacious, clean, beautiful, and the perfect place to spend the week. Plenty of room inside and out on the porch and grounds to not feel on top of each other. Hosts were very attentive to solving small issues that arose quickly (WiFi password was incorrect but immediately solved and the microwave died but was replaced the next day)- they went above and beyond to make sure everything was up and working as it should. Pool was great for the kids, and all of the residents we met there were lovely. Tennis courts are not the greatest surface (asphalt), but are well kept and good for recreational play. View of the lake was gorgeous, and offered up some beautiful sunsets. We also found it to be a good location for day trips into Rochester, the Finger Lakes, and Niagara Falls- we enjoyed splitting the week between relaxing at the house/pool and outings. Also a short ride into Brockport for bigger grocery shopping (Wegmans) and some lovely local shops (Lift Bridge Books!).

The lake
The less than 5 stars are a reflection of construction noise near the house, and there was no one there to let us in ,the office was closed the entire week so we had to make a few phone calls. This should be a temporary problem, we still love the house and the lake!

Peaceful Easy Feeling
We absolutely loved the sunsets! Also, some of us woke up for sunrises too. During mid-June, both are visible from the property over the lake. The house has lots of room and was comfortable, including the beds. The pool was very large and clean, although only the littles swam during our 70 degree weather. We will be back!

Beautiful home right on the lake. Had a cold spell the week we were there and furnace not working till the third day. Staff brought plenty of firewood. The roaring fire was actually a nice addition. Would definitely rent again - probably earlier in the season.

Enjoyed our stay in the historic house on the lake. Perfect location for relaxing. The rental property is in a residential area and there were some issues about Covid-19, but the property owner/management took care of us, and we appreciated his professionalism and helpfulness.

Mixed experience: beautiful house, not well maintained
We had a mixed experience during our stay. On the positive side, the lake views from the house and the porch were lovely. There was almost always a nice breeze through the trees, and the house has a nice wrap around porch. The old house bones were wonderful: the original windows, floors, and big fireplaces. The pool was a nice temperature and noodles and float toys were available for use. Many of the year-round community members were very warm and friendly (my children enjoyed playing with their visiting grand-children). It was very quiet in the evening and early morning. On the downside, the house's windows were covered with dirt and cobwebs, the porch was covered with more dirt, bird droppings, cobwebs, and wasps nests. The gas grill was so filthy with food debris, grease, and ashes. We were also very disappointed to find that the house did not include bed or bath linens (not mentioned in the VRBO listing at all). The outdoor furniture cushions had lost their cushion and needed to be replaced. Laundry at the pool facility requires quarters but there is no quarter machine. The kitchen was sparsely equipped; the non-stick pans were scratched up and need to be replaced. The knives were dull. Also, you cannot tell from the photos or the description of more than 100 acres for 18 families, but the land is being developed with small cottages that are very close together. There were several cottages no more than 25-40ft. away from this house.

Great time at the Lake!
This cottage and entire complex was just the right blend of traditional lakeside living with justs the right amount of modern amenities make all comfortable while not losing that charm. The staff (owner Jack and salesperson Colleen) were great to deal with and flexible in their demands/requirements. They permitted our 40 lb. poodle to make the trip and stay in the home (as long as she had her doggie socks on). She ran the shoreline all week and repeatedly jumped into the lake and had a blast. We were able to take advantage of: (1) the clubhouse (housing a pool table; ping-pong table and a foosball table), (2) the lodge (where we conducted our family reunion and had dinner for over 30 people, (3) the free community kayaks (they provided the life vests); (4) the fishing pier and (5) and the fire pit. The spectacular swimming pool didn't open until the end of our week but it was unlikely any in our group would have ventured into that water (nor did we take advantage of the tennis or basketball courts - good reason to come back). We got a tour of the cottages that are for sale and are considering purchasing one (my wife would write a check today). The residents that have already purchased homes in the community were very kind, friendly and open to our presence and several gave tours of their homes. We were 20 minutes from Charlotte Beach in Rochester where we attended a free concert (every Wednesday - hosted by Wegmans); had lunch and dinner the Braddock Bay Tavern (GREAT food); 45 minutes from Niagara Falls; 45 minutes from Del Lago casino and a little over an hour from outstanding hiking in the Finger Lakes. The grounds are immaculate and well maintained. Plan on booking again for next year!

Amazing!!!
This was one of the best vacations we have been on! We had children from age 8-16 and every one of them had a great time. The views are breathtaking and the house is beautiful. We enjoyed coffee on the porch evey morning and amazing views at night. The pool was perfect and loved that we could see the lake while swimming. I do not have one complaint! We hope to make this an annual trip for years to come!

Gorgeous
What can I say. It was a wonderful week on Lake Ontario. The house was wonderful. Big wrap around porch , beautiful woodwork, and lots of space. The setting is perfect. Lawn right to the water with a huge dock for fishing or sitting to enjoy gorgeous sunsets. Lake is crystal clear and great for swimming or sitting in a tube and relaxing. The house has all amenities with beautiful new downstairs bathroom. Huge bedrooms and huge dining room to seat all of us. Very comfortable house. Loved the whole setting. This was our second year there and we plan on returning again despite our 7 hour ride. The house itself made me feel like I was in a different era. We did get 3 very hot days and sleeping was difficult. Although there are ceiling fans I would recommend air conditioners in the bedrooms . Also I would recommend water shoes as the floor of the lake is rocky. If Peaceful and quiet is what you want then this is the place.
