Perfect location close to restaurants, shopping, park, trams, museums. Lots of things within walking distance and about a 25 min tram ride (#2 & #12) to central station (from where most of the day tour buses operate). The view from the room was not scenic but bad either and was ok for me and my family as we were out touring through the day. Good and safe place to stay for first time AMS tourist like me. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The bathroom tub, sink and mirror where a bit higher as if designed for tall people (> 6ft) but again not a big deal. Overall happy with choosing this hotel and recommend.

Clean, comfortable and secure accommodation in a quiet yet conveniently located neighborhood. Quaint, well kept older building. Professional, friendly and attentive staff. Fabulous breakfast!

Staying at the Catalonia was a great experience. The room was perfect (nicely sized, comfortable beds, a wonderful bathroom with full sized shower and air conditioning). Staff was very friendly and helpful. It is our stay of choice in Amsterdam!

A wonderful place to stay
The hotel location is excellent. The room comfortably arranged and bathroom is a bit small but clean. The front desk staff Mike and Thomas were very nice and helpful. There are few steps to the hotel lobby so not convenient for guests with heavy luggage’s. Thanks to Kennith helping us with all the luggage’s.

Blocked drain stank out the corridors and don’t get a basement room you get kept awake from everyone walking and bashing around above you. Otherwise good service, pleasant surroundings and a great location

Great Dutch retreat
Very nice hotel in great location to south of city but only minutes to everything. Hotel was quiet, but well maintained with friendly staff. Recommend for couples, families or anyone who wants quality and peace and quiet.

Not especially bad but beyond the reception, the place is quite old and in need of upkeep. Carpeting in the hall is old and stained, room was squalid with decorative plastic sewage pipes covering the wall. A tiny bathroom you can’t comfortably sit in without banging your knees on the wall while doing your business. Not sure how this is a 4 star hotel. I’ve stayed in quite a few hotels in Amsterdam and this one was the highest priced with the lowest value for money. The staff was very nice though.

The hotel is old and rooms need maintenance. As the trip was for work I had to make use of the "desk" at the room, however, there are no power sockets available and the chair was a very uncomfortable stool. In addition to this all power sockets located at the sides of the bed did not work. Location: 5 Cleanliness: 4 Service: 4 Elevator: terribly slow 1 For business trip: avoid Noise: no noise from the street but noise from bedrooms is clear, also due to the air extractors you can easily hear the conversations from rooms around, so 1 Bed/comfort: 3 Price/Value: 3

Quirky and cost with excellent staff. Breakfast is great, good wifi, tiny shower room that took some negotiating. Staff were very accommodating, my room was ready really early. There are stairs to many rooms so bring might luggage!

My husband, son, and I stayed here for four nights since our daughter was getting married in Amsterdam. What we loved about the hotel: very friendly staff, quick walk to the Nine Streets area, delicious breakfast each morning (I will miss the coffee machine), helpful front desk staff - particularly with arranging a taxi so we could get to the train station. We 3 stayed in a room and had enough space to walk around the room and keep suitcases on the floor. If my friends were asking for hotel recommendations, I would HIGHLY recommend the Catalonia Vondel.
