Cozy and romantic apartment in captain's steering cabin

This newly refurbished apartment is in the captain's quarters Ämsterdam Houthavens "of the freighter. It is a cozy, romantic and comfortable. The lounge in the captain's steering cabin above deck offers a beautifull 360 view of the old Amsterdam Houthavens (lumber harbor), the IJ (the main water way to the harbor) and the city. Below deck there is a seperate sleeping area; a dining / living area with a small, but fully equipped, kitchenette; and bathroom with shower and toilet.
All amenities are brand-new. There is an internet connection. The apartment has its own entrance It has a sense of spaciousness and there is a sea of tranquility. A great place to relax and watch ships of all sizes and swans come by while the boat gently rocks.

It was a perfect location and Dana was a joy to meet and beyond kind to me and my partner. We had no trouble with sea sickness and everything was a 20 minute walk away. We loved the view, the location, and the boat itself and would stay again if given the chance.

Had a great couple of nights staying on the Dana. It was cosy and was great to be able to sit inside and cozy whilst watching the rain outside haha. Very comfy bed and friendly owner who even gave us more beer when we were out ;-) Would stay again.

Perfect! Just book it!
My daughter and I had the best time. The houseboat is super cozy and so beautiful. We had a bit of a bad luck with the weather but staying on the houseboat made it so much more fun as you could stay up in the captains quarters and enjoy a beautiful view instead of being stuck in a hotel room. My daughter got bad cold and Dana was so helpful providing us with medicine, honey, herbs and tea. The bed was very comfortable and everything was super clean. The location was great as you are not in the midst of everything but still only a couple of bus stops away from the hustle and bustle. We slept so well since the bed was very comfortable and there was literally no noise from outside as there is no street going by. The kitchen and fridge are awesome as you don’t have to spent tons of money eating out but if you feel like it there are some good options in walking distance like a Thai place or a Turkish place and a great grocery store as well. I would definelty book another stay here! 100%!!!

Great time on the Dana
My husband and I stayed for several days and it was a perfect adventure. We wanted something other than another hotel stay and we got it! Very cozy, well appointed, and a great location. Between the ferries (5 min walk) and the train station (20 min walk), we had everything we needed to get around. Host was incredibly helpful in sharing information. Would absolutely stay again.

An Incredible Stay on a Beautiful Boat
This house boat is what dreams are made of. Clean, cozy, and incredibly comfortable; I don't think I've ever slept so well. Dana is an absolute gem and incredibly helpful. Would absolutely stay here again!

Wonderful Weekend in Amsterdam
We had the pleasure of staying at Houseboat Dana for a long weekend. Not only was it cosy, clean and comfortable, but the location was also close to tram/ ferry stops. Dana was the most generous and helpful host we’ve ever had. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a romantic weekend in Amsterdam.

Very fun experience on the houseboat we loved the perch up top for sipping wine and chatting/napping under the sun/rainy sky one day it was so very relaxing. The free ferry is a quick walk away to get into central Amsterdam.

We stayed here to visit Amsterdam for 2.5 days & we could not have been more pleased! the location was incredible, very different than normal hotels - which made it even better! The owner was the best part; she was so helpful, pleasant & I wish I could have stayed longer just to hang out with her! We aren’t people that like to do the same experience 2x, but we would do this again in a heartbeat!

Fantastic stay
My friend and I stayed for two nights. Our lovely hostess who we lovingly nicked named Aunt “D” was wonderful! She gladly showed us how to get places on our bikes and gave us a few tourist lessons. I would stay here again and again. Beautiful spot to watch ships come and go. Very peaceful and beautiful at night. The sleeping quarters is good. I made use of the cabin on top deck which can be made into a bed as well.

Unique rental for Amsterdam!
Hostess was the best part of this rental. She took us on a walk around Harlaam, loaned bikes and her personal kayak. (we are experienced kayakers). We even visited Enkhuisen with her and enjoyed it tremendously. She went beyond in helping our visit to Amsterdam go well. The ship's apartment was very nicely renovated. Good hot water pressure. Nice bath. The kitchen had everything we needed. It is very cosy. The bed is a full size, and we slept well. We were seasick a little the first day, then fine. The views around boat are wonderful. We rode bus 46 to the central station and caught a tram from there. It was well located for our visit. My only complaint is with Amsterdam, not specifically "The Dana." I find Amsterdam very expensive for accommodations. The prices are really higher than they were 2 years ago. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Such a special place in a great city! Dana is a beautiful ship with all the comforts!
Upon arrival we were greated by Dana, she welcomed us and showed us her ship. A lot of the work she has done herself and it makes it all the more special to stay on. The location is right at the end of a quiet pier so it’s nice and private. The ship is within walking distance of everything you would want to do in Amsterdam. We couldn’t fault this amazing ship and the host. Thanks for having us Dave and Meaghan.

This was a very fun and special stay on a houseboat!
The owner of the boat made this experience exceptional. The boat is very clean, well equipped and pleasant to stay on. I was worried about it being heated- it was warm! Plenty of hot water in the shower as well. I enjoyed sleeping in wheelhouse- it poured rain one night and I loved hearing that. My husband preferred the sleeping quarters below as it was more quiet . We really enjoyed meeting Dana- she’s charming!!!

Absolutely perfect !!!
We were met at the ship Dana by Greita as arranged, she is an amazingly friendly informative person who couldn’t do enough for us. The ship was just perfect for me and my wife. It’s about a 25 min walk into the center of Amsterdam with several bars along the way. The gentle sway of the boat led to 4 great night sleep. The shower and loo are perfectly adequate and we felt very cosy and safe.

Besonderer Geburtstag an einem besonderen Ort
Wir hatten einen wundervollen Aufenthalt auf dem Hausboot! Das Ambiente war einfach einzigartig und die ruhige Lage hat perfekt zur Entspannung beigetragen. Die Sauberkeit war hervorragend und die Nähe zur Stadt war ein weiterer Pluspunkt. Der Kontakt zur Gastgeberin war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir würden jederzeit gerne wiederkommen! Sehr schön. Die Lage und der Ausblick war unglaublich schön. Als letztes Boot am Steg eine super Aussicht auf die Lichter des Hafens bei Nacht zu genießen war sehr romantisch und etwas ganz besonderes. Sehr nette Gastgeberin und perfektes Wetter.
