Ended up loving it!
Overall we enjoyed this cabin but First night had to snuggle with a space heater was super cold. The main gas stove in living room wouldn't turn on. The heaters in bedroom on the baseboard would not turn on. Called and told the guy and he said to late for someone to come see about it that it would be tomorrow. I was so angry and cold all night. It was me and my sister and 2 teen boys. Next day my sister looked at panel box and baseboard heaters breaker was off. So she fixed that problem. Once they came and got the gas stove heater working in LR the cabin warmed up quickly. The next 2 days the cabin was amazing. Warm and relaxing. We would def stay there again because we liked the isolation of the cabin. I would ask the owner to be more aggressive during winter months that your renters aren't freezing at all during their stay. Not one night you paid for should you have to be cold. The cabin could of been a little more cleaner but nothing I wouldn't stay in again. Overall I would def stay here again as long as I didn't have to be cold. Things to know to renters: No central heat -stove in LR heats very well though. Is isolated if you want that. Parking is at bottom of hill so you will have to walk up steep hill if you cant walk well.

Balsam Grove
My husband, our two dogs, and myself stayed in Balsam Grove for a long weekend. It was a simple and beautiful cabin. The property manager was very responsive with our needs/issues. It was mostly clean but needed a good dusting, as there were dust filled cob webs throughout. The kitchen had the basic bare minimum, ie missing baking sheets, cooking utensils (had spatula and tongs), trash bags (house keeper brought this and sponges). There was also a planned power outage for maintenance we did not find out about until half away to our arrivial (we live 6hr from the location) we were told there would be candels and lanterns for the night this would occur, instead we were provided with tealight candles and camping heating/cooking candle things. Thankfully, the power outage was only from 9p-6a, so we just went to bed early for our trip back home the next day. The cabin is quite litterally in the middle of nowhere (we loved this) but was a trek up winding mountian road to get to town, approximately 20 minutes. So I'd recomend pack enough food for your stay as it was quite a trip to town. There also is no parking directly at the house as you have to walk up an uneven so that can be ticky with a lot of loading/unloading and would really not be easy if there were snow. This is skimmed over in the description but feel as though it should be elaborated a bit more. Otherwise, we had a good relaxing weekend away.

Great location- house needs work
We really liked some things about the property, it had a great porch and was located close to both Gorges State Park and DuPont On the negative side The inside was dirty, there was trash all in the driveway and outside, the AC didnā€™t cool the bedroom, the bathroom floor was in bad shape, and the shower was not good.

We loved the cabin location and rustic nature. We walked down the driveway one night to view the stars in the big open field. Wish the windows had screens in to cool the cabin off overnight. Look forward to visiting again.

Most Cozy Little Cabin!
This is the most darling little cabin! Perfect get-away in October. Beautiful detail throughout and the fireplace was center stage! Even the drive up to the cabin felt like magic with fall leaves meandering on the wind. Hot tub worked great and beds were comfortable for sleep. The cabin was tidy as well. Brent was incredibly helpful too with directions. We didnā€™t arrive until after dark and he called ahead to give us some land marks to the property which was very much needed once the sun was gone. Thank you for the great stay! šŸŒ»šŸ‚ā˜ŗļø

Miss leading
No marking for the driveway at ALL!! Driveway was washed out. Yard over grown with trees. House smelt like mothballs. Lining consisted of three wash cloths and plenty of towels. Toilet paper and paper towels. Front door knob was falling off when we got there. Pots and pans looked like they cooked rocks in it!!! Complete stay was misleading we left a day early!!! If not for my 4 wheel drive truck we would have NOT been able to get up the driveway. I have pictures to prove all this..

Disappointed. Dirty, unkept, mushrooms growing in the bathroom floor! description not as described.
Very dirty. Cob webs and dirt. Mushrooms growing in the bathroom floor! Smelly used sponge, had to re wash everything we used, not enough towels for 4 people using a hot tub and shower for 5 days. Everything stayed wet as there was no dryer even though we hung everything up. Dingy sheets, had to go purchase new, rusty dirty pans, filthy stove, yard unkept and walked through weeds to unload etc it said central air but was 2 window units we had to put in ourselves. Had to sweep porch where hot tub was. Granddaughter got cut on glass that was in the hot tub. Paper towels had dirt all over the top of the roll. Coffee pot dirty, no toaster, no kitchen towels or sponges. Had to go buy all of it. No spices. Bought those too. Definitely not as described.

Great location, but different management
We loved this cabin and its location the 2 previous stays we have had but by no fault of the property owner (other than moving to a new property manager Evolve who was very difficult to reach when I made reservation), the quality has gone down. Because of the remote location, area lacks restaurants so necessitates cooking at home. The kitchen lacks organization or even basic comforts (toaster, drinking glasses). They have upgraded the fridge to a more modern one but the fridge door does not stay closed if anything is in it. No ice trays in freezer too. Cabinet door panels unglued and banging around. No mattress pads, loose tiles on bathroom floor. Last negative is pond that once were full of trout are mud puddles with only salamanders now. Great hot tub and access to hikes in Pisgah and French broad tubing/kayaking.

Mixed feelings on this stay
My wife and I rent a cabin in NC at least once a year for the last 8+ years and typically have great experiences with the cabins overall. This cabin had some things we really enjoyed, but also a few that left us feeling a bit disappointed. Pros: 1. We loved the privacy of the cabin, there are no other cabins or homes within view. We usually have other cabins nearby, so the privacy of this cabin was awesome! 2. The hot tub was a 6 person hot tub. It was not in the photos for the cabin, so I had some concerns about it. 3. The beds were comfortable, which is very important. We both slept well for the most part. 4. Quiet/Peaceful - The area was pretty quiet most of the time, allowing you to enjoy the sounds of nature. You do occasionally hear the road noise, but not too terribly often. Cons: 1. The cabin was not as clean as it could be in our impression. We had a cockroach in our bedroom, and the first night my wife and I were both woken up by something crawling on us in the dark. Half the dishes we pulled out were dirty. Most of the pots/pans and dishes had a heavy greasy film on them and the knives were dirty. We re-washed everything before using it after that. The red chair in the living room was very worn which makes it look dirty even if it isnt really dirty. It definitely gives you an uneasy feeling about sitting on the furniture, sleeping in the beds, etc., as you begin to question the cleanliness. 2. The entrance to the property is very dangerous. The weeds have grown up so high at the road that you cannot see down the road either way. Cars tend to pick up speed on this straightaway, probably 40mph+. I would have to get out of my car, walk to the road, and then jump in to get out quick as the cars come quick around the curves. It was actually quite scary! 3. I would suggest removing the single tree growing up on the walkway, it is hard to carry items past that tree on a narrow walk. 4. Toilet wouldnt flush well, plugged several times. 5. Tub was difficult and awkward. Shower curtains go around it and touch you on both sides. There is nowhere to put your products, the little hanger doesnt stay up with products in it. 6. Not enough towels/washcloths for two people for 4 days to use with hot tub and shower. There is not a washer/dryer, a few more towels would be helpful. 7. Hot tub had sandy grit on the seats, edges, felt uncomfortable to sit on. Didnt feel clean
