An excellent retreat from the noise & bustle of the city. This was a solo trip but I'll definitely look to return with a friend.

A very strong mouldy smell , stained carpets, and a broken lamp shade in our room. The food was just ok, nothing special. Entrance in the building we stayed in was dirty and full of webs. Dining room staff were friendly and efficient. This facility has a premium location and previously had a lot of charm. Its lost its allure for us , we wont be back.

Overall a good stay. Great breakfast and staff were friendly and helpful, room was clean. The interior and exterior of the buildings and the property could use some TLC and regular maintenance. Ice machine was mouldy, windows dirty, hallways musty, pool area needs a good cleaning, chairs on deck covered in bird poop and cobwebs all over the place.

While this property is clearly intended for romantic weekends away, I suffered multiple bug bites in my overnight stay. There is no cell phone service at this location but the Wi-Fi is good.

An interesting old property converted in the 1970’s from 2 mills and the fascinating book on the history was available in the room. The room we had in the River Mill was spacious with a small balcony and a lovely view of the river. The kitchenette was tiny and had only bare essentials. Although clean, the room and bathroom could do with refurbishing. Breakfast options were limited but the dinner menu was excellent and varied (we did not eat lunch there). There was ample parking, a large attractive indoor swimming pool and it is in a good location for visiting local communities, especially the delightful town of Goderich on the shores of Lake Huron.

The Benmiller is tired. New carpeting in the halls and stairwells is well overdue. They are very stained and also causing the halls to smell.The outside of the buildings need to be maintained (stain on wood, paint, etc). We have a soft spot for the Benmiller however if some upgrades aren’t conducted I fear we won’t return unfortunately.

This property is very tired and not maintained. The room was tired but "ok". The buildings need to be be painted/stained. The windows need to be washed. The grass and gardens need to be cut. We were told we had a "Romantic room with a pool view". The pool was located in our building below our room. There is no way you could possibly see it from our room. We did not see one maintenance person or housekeeping staff while we were there. Very disappointing.

Lovely grounds and surroundings. And the staff is generally pleasant and helpful. But the rooms and hallways are seriously in need of a freshening up. They are very, very tired, even bordering on shabby. The hallway smelled stale and dank. And for the price charged for the rooms one might expect a bit more generosity (ie there was only one hand towel, no cotton balls or swabs or any of the little items that make life more convenient, no daily cleaning…).

The restaurant is excellent, food made just right. Bedroom was fine but loud old A/C unit in next room killed the silence you would expect in rural setting. And why FOX but no CNN. (Statement ?)

Historic charm but needs a refresh
The history of Benmiller Inn is interesting and the area is charming. The food was quite good and the room was spacious. The massage was excellent. However, the hotel could use some updating and general upkeep. The service could have been friendlier. There is no housekeeping service in the room.

Sad but true
Stayed in room over looking the river. Carpet and chairs in room were dirty. Windows were filthy. Toilet roll holder was falling off the wall. We know the Inn is very old and charming but the repair status is poor. Receptionist was very friendly but looked like she had just rolled out of bed. Breakfast was ok. Staff were young and not that attentive. We have stayed with you 5 times now and were never welcomed back. I've been in the hospitality business in South Africa for many years and I know how important feed back is. Sorry Ben Miller Inn we don't know if we will return.
