We stayed in #5, one of the hotel rooms. The bed was wonderful. The bathroom was amazing -- all updated, walk-in shower, dual sinks and a chandelier just for fun. It has a separate room for just the toilet and the rest of the bathroom is open to the room. A walk-in closet slash coffee area helps make the room more livable because it is otherwise pretty small. There is no refrigerator even though it does say there is a full-size fridge in every room. We brought a small cooler and it was easy to get ice from the grocery store a couple blocks away.
The decor is fun and eclectic. Parts of the room feel pieced together, as it's the oldest building in Aspen (so I read), and it has a definite mismatched character. I enjoyed how much it does NOT feel like a corporate hotel room.
The location is perfection. We were there in June so we were not skiing but it's about 2.5 blocks to the gondola, and right on the grid downtown. Plenty of restaurants and shopping right out the door.
Parking. Well, there is free parking but you have to find a spot in the adjacent residential area. We did have to decipher the parking map and drive around a bit. Then the walk is 4-6 blocks back to the room. Easy to park in front to unload but those are city pay parking spaces and you can't park overnight.
Needing to have a cooler and find ice was inconvenient and parking was an adventure, but otherwise, it is a fun and funky alternative to boring hotels.
