Smelled dank, but the room was large, had a delicious free breakfast buffet and nice folks. But would not allow me to check in early and the room was kind of dirty. Crumbs on the bed and sugar spilled all over the counter. Needed a really good scrub and didn't feel clean.

The area especially around the parking garage was a little sketchy. Two elevators in the garage were broken and I was forced to crutch down graffiti filled urine smelling stairs on a broken ankle. My husband left pants and a shirt in the closet and after 5 calls housekeeping denied finding them. There were also large holes in the wall by the elevator on our floor.

The location of the property is excellent - central to downtown Austin and Congress Ave shopping/restaurants. The staff was very nice. My only complaint was there was no housekeeping during our entire 4 night stay. After I inquired (day 3) I was told they were short-staffed and I had to request housekeeping. I would not have been concerned if I was told this up front. That being said, they did take our trash when I asked.

Looks old they charge to much for parking but they don't tell you when you are booking the reservation you find out when you get there.

Love staying at Embassy Suites but on this particular stay: 1. Elevator in Car Garage not working and valet not available - it IS a valid factor because of health issues. 2. Pull-out bed is a joke; if it is promoted in rooms as extra bed it should at least be somewhat comfortable and there was no extra bedding for it. We requested bedding and took a while to get it. It was so uncomfortable, we opted to keep it as couch and sleep in it like that. 3. While trying to fix sofa bed it was inevitable to notice tears in couch fabric and the floor underneath couch was dirty; popcorn, towel... While I will continue to stay at Embassy Suites I was disappointed in general this time.

Complimentary Breakfast had terrific tasty options and great quality; the lovely wait-staff was so pleasant and friendly! Great job. Only dislike was the advertised "on-site restaurant". That is not the case. My writing partner and I held our annual plotting retreat here and wrote till wee hours of the night; basically never left the hotel until we had to get food. Had to walk in 103 heat to the Hyatt Regency for lunch and had no dinner or late night options for food as 2 ladies would not be walking in downtown Austin after dark. Room Service is closed from 11:00-4:00 and not certain of the limited time after that as we just brought back our lunch extras to reheat in the microwave. So big bummer on that. Yea for the fabulous bartender as she made an extra effort to provide us large size soft drinks and juice that we were able to purchase! Much appreciated :)

Great customer service
The customer service of the hotel is amazing, however the cleanliness is nonexistent in the rooms. Breakfast is perfection! I accidentally booked our rooms for the wrong night, didn’t realize until we were in town. The hotel refunded us and booked us the same type of room for that evening at the same price we originally booked our stay. As parking is not connected to the hotel my husband dropped me and the kids off at the hotel and went to park. When I got to our room the stench was horrible. It smelled like a bar. The couch was full of stains and when we pulled out the couch bed it also had stains and a the smell from the bed (fishy?) joined in with the smoke and beer scents. I immediately called my husband and said we could not stay in that room. He talked with the front desk and we were put into another (much better) room at no additional cost. We have a 17 year old and a 12 year old so I commend them especially for getting us into a room that accommodates 3 beds. The common areas are clean. Breakfast was great.

$48 a night for parking so definitely take that into account when booking this property. Great location on South Congress near the bridge. Free breakfast was nice. Our room was laid out nicely, but the couch had quite a few stains and just didn’t feel clean. The shower drain was very slow, so slow that when the next member of my family went to take a shower it was still ankle deep in water. We only stayed 1 night and I reported this when we checked out so hopefully was fixed after we left.

Bad check in. Provide Confirmation Number
My flight was delayed so i checked in after midnight. The only person at the counter was new and could not find my reservation. There was no reservation number on my hotels.com confirmation, just an itinerary number which was no good to them. It turns out that despite me repeating my name a few times he was reading my drivers license wrong to look up the reservation. The issue was resolved after 40 minutes which was horrible after a long day of flight delays. Hotels.com ahould provide a confirmation number from the respective hotel to avoid these issues.
