No air conditioning. Hotel was super clean but they have a jacuzzi outside that’s boarded up. Women was mean on phone but the guy was nice. Decent place to stay, good price for busy summer season.

The location was perfect. The hotel itself was very outdated. Our ceiling fan and light kept turning on and off throughout the night on their own. The hot tub was covered up by plywood. The vending machine outside our door only accepted $1 bills, which was inconvenient considering the drinks cost $3.50. Staff were nice and friendly. For almost $500 for two nights, you could find something a little nicer.

Morning staff (female) is so accommodating , kind, helpful and just amazing. The property itself is another thing. Although we expect that it’s not a 5 star hotel and could be old due to the location being an island, it looked like a make shift hotel in the inside. It looked like an elementary painted the room. The toilet bowl COULD really use replacement. One of the towels that was in our bathroom was ripped and with markings (I showed it to the staff and was so kind to replace it and apologize. Their microwave REEKS, that after we reported it being dirty we didn’t see the plate anymore (maybe they’re soaking it if they’re really trying hardest to save money or threw it away and hopefully ordered a new one) At the time of our departure there wasn’t a plate replacement just yet. We love their concierge/ reception area. It feels homey, their massage chair is a plus. And coffee whole day. I particularly like also that there’s a security gate that is closed at night and only accessible with room keys.

Loved the historic hotel, with its quaint little rooms and period furnishings. The bed was quite comfortable. We forgot our keys one night and only had to wait about 5 minutes to be let in. Very friendly staff. Ice buckets would be very helpful, and a light by the ice machine. Also, no oatmeal packets the last 2 days, they ran out.

The property was an older Victorian style which was part of its charm. The managers were very hospitable and allowed us to check in early and leave our luggage there after checkout. Overall, very good experience

Older property. Vintage like we are. Hotel not modern or perfect but wonderful community porches. Hotel has character and charm. Must be able to do stairs for upper floors—no elevator. Wonderful view of harbor from upper floor. Convenient to restaurants and beach. Short walk up hill from Main Street.

The hotel is very old and quaint, but with that atmosphere comes creaky floors, stairs and doors, footsteps from the floor above, very old, dirty carpet with stains, drapes with threads coming loose, grime on exposed pipes that haven’t been cleaned it at least a year, a teeny tiny bathroom and shower combo, mismatched shower tiles and oddly-matched antique furniture juxtaposed against modern brushed stainless towel racks that were out-of-place, and a peek-a-boo ocean view at a distance. The front veranda is cute, but the cushions were old and dirty and not a great option when wearing light-colored clothing. The light switches and some fixtures are turn-of-the-century. No AC but a nice ocean breeze. Heat was provided by a small portable space heater. It did not feel safe to use it. (I doubt that it meets hotel safety code). The staff were friendly. The bed was bouncy and uncomfortable. Everything from carpet to bedding to Kleenex box smelled musty. For me, although we had a good time in Avalon, I’ll book a different hotel next visit. I can tell the family that runs it means well, but it did not meet my expectations for a hotel at all. It felt akin to an informal B&B (which I never book) because it felt as though as I was staying in a family’s home, not a hotel. The property directly across the street is being rehabbed so it is a construction zone. The location is central with easy access to the promenade.
