After a day sight-seeing in Northern Tasmania or wine-touring the Tamar Valley, there is little better than relaxing on Beachside’s front porch and enjoying the view.
Overlooking kanamaluka / River Tamar and set in a lovely garden of native and heirloom plants, Beachside is a "perfectly imperfect" unique Arts & Crafts home; picturesque and ideally situated for a quiet getaway.
Built in 1950 and lovingly maintained as a comfortable home, the decor and furnishings are in keeping with that era, while gentle renovations provide modern appliances and conveniences in the kitchen and bathrooms.
The spacious galley kitchen is designed with the foodie in mind. You'll be "cooking with gas" on the stove, baking perfectly in the electric oven or wood firing pizzas in the wood-burning oven/stove.
Three living areas provide generous personal space for guests and 180 degree views of the deep water harbour just across the road.
The open-plan lounge has a large comfortable couch, Smart TV, DVD player, wood heater, and reverse-cycle air-conditioner (aka heat pump).
The sunroom has informal dining overlooking the river and fabulous 1960s armchairs for relaxing in with a glass of wine or a good book.
The formal dining boasts a rustic 8 seat teak dining table and high-backed chairs, and two comfortable armchairs for relaxing and sipping something delicious by the big open fireplace.
The 3 upstairs bedrooms are expansive, all with water views. Standard configuration is 3 beds (1xDB, 2x QB) for up to 6 people.
At Beachside, everything you need for a self-contained stay is provided: linen and towels; all kitchen utensils and appliances; wi-fi internet; general pantry items, and liquid soaps in the showers and by basins.
All you need to bring is clothes and food - for those nights where you don't get takeaway from the region's best fish & chippy which is two doors up, or wander to the pub for a delicious meal on the water.

DOG-FRIENDLY
Beachside is dog-friendly with 6ft barrier fencing enclosing the large, grassy backyard and a sizeable covered area just at the back door.
While it is preferred that dogs remain outside, well-behaved, low-shedding canine family members are permitted inside downstairs only if necessary, not on any furniture, and only where the floors are wood or tiles.
As I don't charge pet fees, guests must clean up after their dogs both inside and outside, as applicable, otherwise additional cleaning fees will be applied.
RATES
I use the VRBO / Stayz rates recommendations, so they fluctuate based on demand and the season.
The base rate of $160 per night is for two people sharing one bed. Additional people and/or beds are $30 p/n each.
Beachside is cleaned and laundry done by professionals between guests. Post-COVID cleaning protocols and inflation have increased these costs. Guest contribution to cleaning is $60 per stay.
PAYMENT
We use the VRBO / Stayz online payments system. VRBO charges a service fee and administers the Refundable Damage Deposit (bond) of $250 per stay. The RDD isn't charged upfront. Funds to cover any damages would only be deducted after your stay.
