Front desk staff in stained Tru logo hoodie was efficient but less than friendly. Overall, the hotel seems in good repair and is convenient to the highway and dining.
Pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and clean /smell/ of our room. We travel with a dog and often are given rooms that are nearly intolerable with animal odor. Tru being a bare-bones hotel chain, there is no microwave or coffee maker in the room, just a mini fridge. The TV was easy to operate and channel/app availability was fine.
The a/c unit is fully functional and its fan does a good job masking the highway noise. Curtains also do a good job with light blocking. Small irritations are non-functional nightlights in the bathroom because the outlets are wired to the light switch, and unnecessary ambient light from LEDs in fixtures in the room and flashing light from the smoke detector.
Breakfast was standard 2.5-star fare: eggs, bacon, pancakes, toast, coffee, etc.
The stay overall would have been a 4/5 but for the cave troll elsewhere in the hotel /running/ up and down the corridor on an upper floor for at least an hour between 1-2 a.m. That ‘management’ can’t or won’t curb this kind of guest is baffling.
I’d stay here again if ever in Beckley again and cross my fingers for better behaved guests.
