About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
Iconic Red House at red house hole!
The legendary, Red House of water feature “red house hole” is an all new air bnb. On the best part of the Cache La Poudre River, across its own private bridge through whitewater, south decks surrounded by gardens with rafting, fishing, hiking, and rock climbing in its own private wilderness. A spiritual place that has been lived in by mountain people, river sportsmen, musicians and artists in the old, true ways! Fish, raft, climb, hike, all on private property! The Mish is just down the road!
Red House is special. There is an entire vacation within this property. Red house hole is right in front of the house with its beautiful river boulders to sit on. The river surrounds the property with the renowned “killer bridge” at one end, the small forest and natural area in the middle and red house gulch behind the house on the other apx 1/2 mile away, with the rock face looking over the area and grandma’s mountain towering down the driveway above that!
Mountain sports
There is fly fishing 🎣 the entire length of the river front property. Brown and Rainbow trout come out in sandwich size!
Play boating, rafting 🛶 and canoeing the “bridges” area of the river including our bridge known as “killer” bridge 🌉, with the “pinball” water feature above and the famous “red house hole” below, are a fun part of the river and all on the property!
Rafters take your pick all the major guides pass by and will let you out at the red house. 🚣♀️Kayakers it’s a Pyrana, Dagger, Jackson, highway out there in the summer.
In the late summer the area below the bridge becomes a known community swimming 🏊🏽 hole.
Follow the gulch out the backdoor of the house to the rock face behind the house 🏞 for good bouldering, climbing, rappelling🧗🏼♀️;
Or hike the ridge for the secret route up through Grey Rock Meadow to the face of Grey Rock ⛰itself. You follow the animal paths, 🐾 and true Rocky Mountain nature, be careful - this is undisturbed wilderness! Walk the river’s edge down to the bridge.
Find the meditative rocks🧘♀️ and private places on the property, including the giant wash out area which is water covered about half the time. There you find treasure such as old paddles, and items from those who flipped🏄🏼♂️in the water.
From the bridge the water glitters in the morning and evening light during the summer, just as it does at Prague’s St Charles bridge!🌌
And as the water recedes sandy beaches appear along the river in two places🏖Bring a lawn chair, sunbath and sleep.
The privacy makes it clothing optional 🧜🏻♂️ (just look out for the poison ivy;).
The private gulch is the real star of the property, from a lower pool (note the hand made private reservoir) just behind the house, and an upper pool where you will find Bone Tree containing 40 years of bones from mountain lion kills found on the gulch.
Find the Buddha, nirvana and get 10% off a future visit if you take your picture with Buddha and post it in your review!
Between if you notice the mountain lion paths 🐈you will note a lodgepole pine that has ancient mountain lion scratch marks on the back of it going all the way to the present! Bears 🐻cruise the gulch as a path to the river, eat the choke-cherries from the bushes in the fall and hibernate there. Yes it’s spooky! 👻 but relax, you rarely actually see the mountain lions, you just see OF them. There is also an area just below this where there is a moss bed 🌿next to where the stream meanders through the rock and ancient giant cedars trees 🍃that are now grounded. Take a piece of cedar and put it in your drawer at home!🌲
The House
The house itself has a winding deck under a pine tree connecting the master bedroom to the original front porch of the house.
The front of the house features gardens with numerous rock terrace planting levels and stone sculptures 🗿with roses🌹, lilies 🌷pear, sunflowers 🌻 cherry 🍒 apple 🍎 trees, tiger lillies🌺columbines, all built in their own special way by different lovers of the red house. 🕊There is a literal bed of flowers made to lay on. 💐
❤️The Red House inspires!❤️ Many artists and musicians have communed with this place; but its true heart is in the mountain people and sportsmen who originally lived here. Find their artifacts, look for the old cable, the hidden cellar (hint- it can only be seen from inside the house!)
Arts
Use the historic tinsmithing workshop, paint and sing on the deck, and please (for goodness sake) water the garden with the natural fed spring that flows 24/7!
New Sports
Several new sports have been invented at the red house, we kid you not! Oh, you want a list! bridge water skiing and wake boarding,🏄🏼♂️underwater whitewater scuba 🤺and hand-fishing, not to mention the kamikaze sport of steep downhill sprinting. Telemark river sailing! ⛷⛵️ The river is frozen, we slowly snowshoe up the river with our sled-sail! Anticipation builds! The wind is strong down river. We wax the tele-skis, bring the sled-dogs, they love to run. The sled tows you down river at incredible speeds. The water features become jumps! Gives new meaning to Columbine Falls. Miss the holes, and if the ice cracks, just keep going. New death sport? Just another winter day at the red house.. We challenge you to find out what is true here! 🧖🏽♂️ Be a part of it and make your own legend! 👴🏽And yes of course we always have tickets for the shows at the Mishawaka.
Music
River-mountain-artist-sport-musicians have always lived here! 🎷Many of the old timer, musicians such as Commandeer Cody, Jerry Jeff Walker, and river legends have been here. THATS WHY WE KEEP A HAMMOND C-3 ORGAN 🎹AND GUITAR 🎸 ON THE FRONT PORCH right next to the fly rod, kayak and painting canvass.
Iconic Legend
Live the legend of the red house at red house hole🕳🚿! Be the legend!
