Upper Ffinnant is a traditional characterful stone farmhouse and Chalgrove a contemporary barn conversion; but they both have the wonderful views in common! Chalgrove is ideal for families or friends wishing to get away from it all and have a relaxing, refreshing country break. It is well-equipped, spacious and tastefully decorated throughout, and the original stone barn dates back to 1822. Set above the Usk Valley, the property affords wonderful views and there are miles of walking and cycling routes. The owners have sympathetically renovated the barn using the original Welsh stone, complemented by Welsh slates, handmade oak doors and beams throughout - all of which make this a very warm and comfortable home for your holiday. There is large, welcoming, open plan living area with beautiful views across the untouched farmland towards the peaks of the Brecon Beacons. A well-equipped kitchen leads from the dining area, which has a large table to seat 8. There’s a further snug room with chunky sofas for quiet relaxation or watching TV or a film, and this room opens out onto the patio which is ideal for a barbecue. The bespoke oak staircase leads you to four lovely bedrooms, two of which are en-suite, and a family bathroom. With the ground floor shower room, that makes a total of four bathrooms! The local area is littered with attractions. For a pampering break you can enjoy an afternoon at a local spa just ten minutes away or maybe golfing is your sport and there are two courses within 10 minutes’ drive. For families, you can go hiking or pony trekking in the Brecon Beacons or Black Mountains and enjoy some of the play barns and open farms in the area. Peace and quiet surrounds you as Chalgrove is situated on the boundary of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The area is blessed with rolling hills, woodland, canal walks and river valleys, and guided walks through the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains are available. Views throughout the entire year are outstanding and dramatic views can be seen by keen photographers throughout the day. Bustling towns such as Brecon, Crickhowell, Abergavenny and Hay-on-Wye are traditional market towns where local produce can be purchased so look out for the farmers market days and farm shops for some real treats. The Taff Trail is nearby, explore caves at Dan-Yr-Ogof, and plenty of castles to see at Carreg Cennen, Caerphilly, and Cardiff Castle is a must. The Brecon Mountain Railway is ideal for an afternoon out with the family. The Brecon Beacons is Wales’ first International Dark Sky Reserve, recognised as possessing an exceptional or distinguished quality of starry nights and nocturnal environment. Brecon is the nearest town, but the surrounding area offers some outstanding places where you can wine, dine or simply get a takeaway, and the villages around the Brecon area have some outstanding pubs which offer good food. Shop, pub and restaurant 6 miles.
