Holidays To Busselton

Busselton isn’t just another summer destination with a scenic swimming beach (although it certainly is that).

Busselton is the home of the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere, which stretches out almost two kms into the clear sea. It’s no surprise that this family-friendly city is full of beach activities, from seaside playgrounds to an underwater observatory. Busselton also has a number of boutique shops, urban cafes and the world’s largest remaining tuart forest. Plus it’s an ideal starting point for the Margaret River Wine Region. Book your Busselton holiday package with us and bustle your way into sunshine, beaches, wine and fun. HistoryFrench sea captain Nicholas Baudin explored this part of W.A’s coastline in 1801, naming Geographe Bay and Cape Naturaliste after his ships. But Busselton was settled by (and named after) the Bussell family, who came to the area after finding out about its fertile land. Farming and timber flourished in Busselton, and in 1865, the Busselton Jetty was built.Things to doBusselton Beach is a long stretch of clean white sand and glistening water backed by parks and Norfolk Island palm trees. Busselton Jetty stretches 1.8 kms into Geographe Bay, and at night, streetlamps light up this incredibly long pier. Walking to the end of the Jetty takes about 25 minutes each way and offers some lovely views of the beach. But if you don’t want to walk that far, hop on the Jetty Train. Once you reach the end of the Pier, a spiral staircase will take you eight metres under the ocean to the Underwater Observatory. Here you can peer through one of the eleven viewing windows to check out the variety of coral and fish. Tuart is a tall, light-coloured type of eucalyptus tree, and Tuart Forest National Park contains the world’s largest remaining collection of it. Check out this relaxing forest’s walking tracks, picnic spots and 300-year-old trees.History buffs can visit Wonnerup House, one of Busselton’s earliest homesteads, preserved just like it was in the 1800s. You’ll find the house that George Layman Jr. built and a school and teacher’s house across the road.A Busselton holiday package wouldn’t be complete without a side trip to the Margaret River region, for more than 120 wine producers and some of WA’s best flavours. Margaret River is a real crowd pleaser. For you, it has craft breweries, vineyards and sumptuous restaurant dining. For the kids (and probably the rest of the family too), Wonky Windmill Farm and Eco Park is a fun way to spend the day. It’s a place to feed lambs, hang out with kangaroos and sit back with a cup of coffee and a home-made scone smeared with fresh jam.Shopping and diningBusselton Central Shopping Centre is there to sort out your shopping needs, with clothing stores, cafes and gifts. Busselton offers a decent selection of cafes, bistros and modern restaurants, with the Margaret River wine region an absolute must for foodies as well as wine drinkers.Getting hereBundle up your flights and hotel with a Busselton holiday package on Wotif and unlock great savings when organising your next getaway to Busselton.
