Cozy Caribbean Beachfront House (Pet & Kid Friendly)

Welcome to Paradise. Relax and enjoy your stay here at 'The Bounty' and enjoy its bountiful gardens and views from either the lower deck or the upper balcony.

Casa Bounty recently renovated in 2010 has a rustic design that combines perfectly with the beautiful tropical setting, the ocean view on its terrace makes it hard to leave. It is well equipped for your comfort and contains many western amenities. The balcony overlooks the Caribbean Sea, meaning there are great beaches only minutes away.
Feel free to take a walk along the serene beach or take a dip in the ocean or gather seashells at your leisure.

Located in a beautiful pristine beach on the north side of Puerto Viejo in the Playa Negra community The Bounty is just a 5-minute drive away from Puerto Viejo.

Puerto Viejo is one of the most popular vacation spots in all of Costa Rica. When you travel to Puerto Viejo, you’ll easily be able to have a fun and exciting vacation, particularly if you enjoy spending time in the water. The southern Caribbean coast is considered to be one of the best surfing spots in Costa Rica, and the tide pools that form during low tide are great for a quick and refreshing dip.

A groundskeeper lives in a small cabin on the premises and helps keep everything manicured and working properly. The owners live in the other side of the duplex from November to May, and with their typical Canadian hospitality, make guests feel welcome. Not to mention we are Pet and Kid Friendly!!

Susana the property manager is also available for any questions or help when needed!

-Casa Bounty property features:

-A two-floor house with 2 bedrooms/1 bathroom that sleeps up to 5 (2 king-sized bed and one space on the sofa or a blowup mattress).
-The main room features a spacious terrace with ocean views.
-A fully equipped kitchen, a private patio, and an outdoor gazebo with a hammock and chill out space.

Daily Housekeeping available on request for an extra fee of $25

An excellent feature is an in-house washer and dryer that allows you to do your own laundry any time you need to.

-The place:

Playa Negra is a black sand beach. This happens when fragments of lava and other volcanic and magnetic minerals were broken down over centuries by the ocean which makes it a very unique place.
Puerto Viejo Town has great restaurants for every taste and lots of music venues, a variety of shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, etc. The magic of this place is a combination of enchanting beaches, crystal waters, a wide variety of wildlife, and a great diversity of cultures.

Lovely restful stay on the beach
The house was spacious, comfortable, and clean. Susana is a great host and made sure the house was stocked! The sound of the surf lulled us to sleep each night. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Best property host ever!!
Our stay was more than we hoped for because Susanna was the most kind and lovely person. She was very helpful to us choosing things to do and took time to get to know us to be able to suggest activities. Wish we would have stayed longer at this location of our travels. The walk to town was pleasurable. We loved having a deck and upstairs balcony off the bedroom. The only suggestion we would make is updating the microwave and toaster oven.

Needs lots of attention
Susana, the property manager, met us for check in and was flexible with our schedule due to a traffic accident shutting down the road. The property photos had obviously been taken years before. Things on the outside were beautiful, but the inside of the home had missing and broken tiles in the kitchen, no potable water (Susana said she would not drink it) and the water container in the photo as well as the microwave, no longer exist. The washer and dryer are in the living room so the only real gathering space is off the upstairs bedroom, (including going up steep, uneven stairs). The stove gas only worked half the time we were there and the oven never worked. There is a toaster oven but cooking for 4 in it was challenging. We asked for a drinking pitcher and Susana said she would bring the next day but we never got it. We were left only 4 towels, 1 roll of toilet paper, and 1 roll of papertowels for 4 adults for 7 days. When we asked Susana about anything, it was a big deal. She either became defensive or just ignored us. Who didn't ignore us was the property owner who shares the property and does not wear pants. That's right, every day he is waiting on the porch in his boxer shorts and at one point, we had only the screen door closed, I walked out of the bathroom after a shower in a towel headed to the bedroom to get dressed. He lets himself in and just stands there talking about bananas and ogling. After that, none of us stayed at the property alone.

Location!
It’s pretty hard to beat the location, a minute walk to the black sand beach right in front, which was never crowded. When we were there swimming wasn’t possible, but playing in the surf was really fun. It’s just a short bike ride to town, about a mile. The yard is full of flowers and offered us many cool wildlife sightings. Nearby there is a fun 2 mile hike or bike to a bird filled river that empties into the sea. The listing photos should be updated as they do not reflect the current condition of the house. The house is in need of maintenance. The kitchen was a challenge, and needs several upgrades. The paved street between the house and the beach is very noisy, but the road noise lessens at night. However, dogs bark and roosters crow then. We would highly recommend Cahuita National Park, Punta Uva, the Jaguar Rescue Center, the chocolate tour at Caribeans, and the Puerto Viejo Bike shop for rentals, and Degustibus Bakery.

GREAT SEASIDE RETREAT!
We loved our stay! Check in was simple. The house was furnished with everything we needed for our stay. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of space for two couples. It was nice having the washer and dryer available for laundry. We used the clothes line outside to dry our clothes so save electricity and everything dried fast with the breeze. The house was perfectly located across the road from the beach and just a few minute drive from town. There were plenty of cafes and places to eat near by as well as a grocery store. We nearly had the beach to ourselves each morning and evening. The porch was nice to sit on in the mornings and evening with a cup of coffee and enjoying the breeze. David the caretaker lives next door and will see to any needs that may arise. He is an amazing chef and though he wasn't available to cook for us on our short stay, we enjoyed sharing a few recipes together. The sunrise on the beach is an amazing site, make sure you take advantage of it! It was a pleasure to meet Susana, she has a sweet spirit and stopped by just to check and make sure we settled in and to answer any questions for us. Check out was simple too. We look forward to staying again the next time we are in Costa Rica!!

Loved the House- a few suggestions
The house is beautiful and amazing. Right across the street from the ocean was such a treat! The groundskeeper David cut us fresh coconut every day! We thoroughly enjoyed the house and the ocean. While the kitchen had the basics there weren't any coffee filters nor salt or pepper to season our food. Also the place did not provide filtered water and only provided 3 rolls of toilet paper for a week for three women! Otherwise we loved the house! I would recommend staying here.

Ups and Downs
Ups: Rustic with lots of room plus a washer/dryer and hot water. Susana is your contact and is very nice and has a ton of information on Costa Rica including guides. The groundskeeper was very friendly and also helpful with answering our questions. Black sand beach right across the road. We saw a lot of wildlife while there as well. Cons: Very busy road with traffic 24/7 and neighbors behind the house were up late fighting and several neighborhood dogs barking through most of the night. We ended up changing our stay and left the next day to find a more secluded location on the other end of town.

Getaway
The place was comfortable and had two patios to sit. My problem with this place was the traffic on the road next to the house. Also the road was not paved and the dust blew onto the patios. The caretaker did come and clean when asked. The traffic did die down at night. The house is across from the beach and an easy walk from the town. I would stay again.

Awesome stay only 200ft from beach.
Awesome stay, convenient location. The furniture and appliances are alittle dated but does not take away you are 2mins from the beach (directly across the street), 20min walk to the city center/ downtown or 5 min drive. Again if location, location is key this is the place! The place has a Two large beds, working/washer dryer and two huge front porches to greet you and help relax you! We enjoyed the stay…..

Lovely place, pity about the surroundings
Lovely , spacious house, set in a beautiful garden near the beach. Very good contact with the agent, the friendly owner/neighbor and local caretaker. Unfortunately the nearby beach is unswimmable, due to very strong currents and enormous waves. And between the beach and the property there is a VERY busy dirt road, where a constant traffic of trucks and cars creates a lot of noise, dust and dirt. If you want to swim, you'll need to take a taxi or ride a bike to Punta Uva, about 8km away.

Enjoy the beach!
Book now! You only need to walk across the road to enjoy one of the most beautiful coastlines in Costa Rica. You are about 10 minutes outside of town but a taxi or bike ride will get you there with no issues. David, the property caretaker, is awesome & friendly and made our stay extra great. You are on the road so there is some dust to beware of if you have sensitive allergies. Overall, I highly recommend this unique stay. Roomy and comfortable. Nice breeze from the ocean on hot days. Beautiful gardens. It has it all!

Great family vacation spot
We enjoyed our stay. The house is in a nice area and access to the beach is immediate. We all enjoyed beach walks, swimming and playing in the sea. Having David as an on-site caretaker makes the place feel secure and also well-cared for. He is also an excellent chef! Having the big washer and dryer in the house is wonderful. The only downside is the oven if you’d like to cook yourself. Plenty of good restaurants in Puerto Viejo.

Amazing location.
The Bounty was in a perfect location and the property was beautiful. The ocean was steps away with beautiful black sand and we got to watch the moon rise every night above the water. The town was close by as well. The house was clean, we were able to cook some meals at the house, and there was a lot of space. Sitting on the deck at night watching fireflies outside was one of my favorite things. The property manager was so helpful, gave great recommendations and was always available for any questions or needs.

Delightful
We had a delightful two weeks at Bounty. The cottage is very relaxing, great views with a wonderful kitchen. The washer and dryer were an unexpected convenience, being in CR for a month it was nice to freshen up our clothes. Owners Dan and Linda were very accommodating and brought us fresh fruit off the property and Linda’s treats were very tasty. Check in was seamless and Susan answered all our questions about the house. Great beach and swimming out front. A bit of vehicle traffic certain times of day but not a distraction. Would definatly say here again. Pete and Kristi

The sea is right across the street, you can hear the sound of the waves, the smell and view of the ocean seating on the big balconies. Just would update the living furniture ... could even add a sofa bed to accommodate 6 pax
