Eco-Green living near Florence / Apt in16th Century's farm - ORGANIC LYFESTYLE

Green Living and sustainable retreat. PODERE MONTISI is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday in the Tuscan landscape, only 10 min train ride from the center of Florence and the Duomo and one hour from Siena and the Chianti region or seaside, 10 min from Prato.
Come and share with us! Real Tuscany: our old Tuscan fields
Casa Toscana is a delicious rural romantic 2 bedroom apt, refined taste (1 double, 1 two single) kitchen, living room and garden in a wonderful Tuscan countryside. It is fresh in the summer because of the big stone walls and warm in the winter for the pellet / wood heating floor.
Podere Montisi the wonderful countryside with rolling hills of olive groves, lavender hedges, vineyards and ancient wheat and our biodynamic farming.
We have projected in 2008 the restoration of our 16th century old farmhouse in a sustainably way and nature, attentive to minimum energy impact: solar panels, wood / pellet heating, roof-water used for vegetable garden, bio-architecture restoration with natural and bio materials.
The ground floor is connected to the garden through door windows. Brand new, fully equipped kitchen: electric hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. Service bathroom with shower sink and bidet. First floor: you will find a large, nice-decorated bedroom, with bathroom in the room. The second bedroom has a cypress wood parquet floor overlooking a cypress wood.
The rent includes grill, umbrella, table and chairs. The house is located in an organic eco-friendly, ogm-free 14 ha farm (Podere Montisi, Calenzano, Florence, Tuscany) that produces extra virgin olive oil, officinal Tuscan cooking herbs and Tuscan ancient heritage wheats - and 10,000 years old Einkorn - in harmony with nature and biodiversity. The farm is located in the Archaeological and Agricultural Park of Travalle.
Our family lives at Podere Montisi farm since 2010, every stone of the country, natural stone and Tuscan terracotta floors, natural lime, wax and natural colors for the walls, fragrant cypress wood for the mezzanine.

Relax in paradise
First off, the host, Barbara, is so nice and accommodating. She really cares about your stay and treats you well with her warm hospitality. The setting is so very peaceful after a bustling day in Florence. Just sit back and relax on the patio and take in the beautiful scenery all around you. The kitchen is well equipped which was important to me. If there is something you might need, Barbra will kindly try to accommodate. We stayed for 10 days and loved our time here. Thank you Barbara! We miss you already!

Que Bella!
Where to start...Barbara and family are incredibly generous and gracious hosts. Our family feels so lucky to have shared their home for the few days we did. Driving down their majestic cypress lined drive seemed like we were entering another world. Once at the home the star of the property, Baloo the giant bear of a Bernese Mountain dog, immediately captured our hearts and attention. Baloo, the goodest of boys, kept us entertained and provided an extra level of comfort you will not find elsewhere. The home is large, yet very comfortable, keeping five us happily together. The views must been seen in person to fully appreciate as do the breakfasts. Please do yourself a favor and indulge in the homemade breads provided. The restaurant at the bottom of the hill (easily walkable) was something out of a movie...more Bernese Mountain dogs, attentive staff, incredible ambiance and of course outstanding food. We left with the whole staff, including the little girl (Anna?) bidding us Ciao! as we left completely satisfied with our pasta, wine and tiramisu lunch. In order to get to this property you will need a car as it is 10 minutes or so to the Calenzano train station. The train to and from Firenze (Florence) was an easy and cheap ride, an excellent way to see the city while enjoying the tranquility of Tuscany. We will be back!

Beautiful Area, Comfortable House
The area is beautiful and quiet, a stone's throw away from Florence and the autostrada. It's a comfortable apartment and we ejoyed our stay. We were disappointed to learn that the apartment was not independent of the rest of the house but was more like staying in a guest suite as the family continued to live all around us. Additionally, the ad says that the apartment has both air conditioning and a washing machine but actually has neither. Barbara was a lovely host and provided great service, and information. She is very nice and helpful and truly wants her guests to enjoy themselves. It is the right place for the right people but it was not what we expected.

Beautiful, peaceful and fascinating
Our first agrotourismo vacation, and we're hooked. Florence was an easy ride (bus, train or car) but the contented peace of Podere Montisi soaked into our souls. Our hosts were delightful, available but not intrusive, deeply knowledgeable and insightful. Do not expect a spa treatment, and please don't come here to party, but come for modern rural Italy, in all its complexity, charm and beauty.

Taste of Tuscany
A wooded glen of Cyprus trees secludes this Italian farm home, encompassed by lush foliage, olive trees and vines - dripping with the fruit of Tuscany. Barbara, along with her family, is a kind and generous host. We look forward to visiting again sometime down the road!

Thank you Barbara for all you did to make our first visit to Italy very memorable!!
Podere Montisi was very comfortable…felt homey!! We had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay! The beds were quite comfortable and the villa very clean! Barbara and family were gracious hosts and so helpful with everything we needed! It is in the country so a car is needed…try to get one at the airport as it didn’t work out for us in Prato. We found out the hard way taxis are not as reliable as we are used to!! Thank goodness for Barbara and her husband! We had a wonderful time there!!!!

Under the Tuscan Sun, Really!
If you want to experience Tuscany, this breathtaking property, owned by Barbara and her husband Saverio will transport you into another realm. We arrived by way of a beautiful private road, adorned with Italian Cypress and evergreens. As you approach the main house, there are rows of olive trees, glistening silver in the Tuscan sun. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with homemade bread and strawberry jam. The apartment we resided in for 8 days, was perfectly renovated out of a 16th century barn. Each morning you will be greeted by the Tuscan light, a few playful cats and rows of gorgeous flowers and the trill of songbirds. Barbara and her husband could not have been more accommodating or warm. They were always ready to help, advice or embrace you with a deep friendliness. I must mention that a walk down the hill leads to a gourmet restaurant, called Osteria Palagetto. This is authenticity at its finest. No tourists, just regulars, treated to the most savory Tuscan food to be found for miles. Don't wait, Please go!

Wonderful flat in a gorgeous setting
From arrival to departure this was our little piece of Tuscan paradise. Close enough to the cities (Firenze, Pisa) if you want to get there but far away from the crowds in a tranquil, hidden valley known mostly to locals. Barbara and her family took excellent care of our needs, even finding toys for the little ones and helping with restaurant recommendations in the area. The kitchen was well equipped enough for cooking some delicious meals with the wonderful local Tuscan produce. We were sad to leave!

Beautiful home perfectly organized and very clean. Barbara was a wonderful host. She was very gracious and made sure everyone was comfortable. The place is about a 20 minute walk from restaurant/bar. Market is further out so plan to have a car or walk a bit. We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend for anyone looking to relax and enjoy the beautiful sights.

Podere Montisi - Five Stars++!!!
Wonderful is the best way to describe our stay at Podere Montisi (from the time we were picked up at the airport to the moment we were driven to the train station for our departure). Barbara and her family were very welcoming, gracious and helpful. The farmhouse was so quiet and peaceful that I could have stayed there indefinitely! We were provided with all the necessary food supplies for our first dinner and breakfast (pasta, olive oil, vegetables, juice, fruit, wine, eggs, jam, bread (and yes homemade)! We learned about the farm, restaurants and Travalle in general. The restaurants and pub were within walking distance, and my daughter enjoyed a long hike through the hills, by the river and into Calenzano. Our trips into Florence were easy and enjoyable. I can't forget the cats ---- oh the cats! We fell in love with the cats and Byron, the dog and since we're both animal lovers, this made us feel even more at home. Overall, this seemed more like a visit with family or close friends. I don't think I have ever stayed in a vacation rental that was this welcoming. If we get back to the Florence area, Podere Montisi will definitely be on our list. Thank you, Barbara and Family, for sharing your Tuscan farmhouse. I do hope to return.

Charming farmhouse apartment.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, charming location away from crowds of tourists, look no further. Surrounded by olive and fruit trees you will feel you’re in your own little Tuscan world. This location is best reached by car; the Prato train station offers frequent trains to Florence and other Tuscan towns at a nominal cost. The apartment was simply but tastefully appointed with a more than adequately furnished kitchen. Our hosts had left us thoughtful gifts of bottled water, pasta, herb salts & other goodies. WiFi was strongest in the living room and we had a very sweet family of cats for neighbors. The accomodations are ideal for a family with 2 children as the 2nd bedroom is not especially suited for an adult couple. The master suite is comfortable and spacious with gorgeous views of the countryside. Our host, Barbara was extremely responsive, via email & text, before and during our stay, though she was on vacation while we were there. Her representative, Roberta, was amazing. She was a wonderful resource for information and a problem solver, extraordinaire! We enjoyed our time at Podere Montisi!

Wonderful property
My family and I fell in love with this place. We were slightly concerned that there was no a/c, but soon learned that the building keeps cool and with the added fan, we were very comfortable. Barbara was so very kind and welcoming. She had pasta and sauce for us to make because we arrived later in the day. She also shared her homemade jams, Orange, mulberry and fig...all amazing. There were sweet kitties playing in the beautiful gardens and Byron the family dog was the kindest dog ever. The views were lovely and the accommodations were just great. If I could live there, I would. A short drive to anything you need. It was the perfect place to unwind and relax after touring Tuscany. We hope to return some day.

A piece of paradise and a perfect way to visit Italy!
We can not express enough our gratitude and appreciation to Barbara and her family for amazing hospitality, kindness, and generosity they had provided. We absolutely loved our stay and can not wait to go back. The clean, comfortable, well-stocked apartment is perfectly balanced by amazing beauty and peace and quiet of the surrounding landscape. We had plenty of room for the four of us: myself, my husband and our two teenage sons. It is under a half hour from Florence, which we had visited a few times, as well as under an hour to Pisa, Lucca, and other amazingly charming Tuscan towns (we did have a rental car). Barbara kindly allowed us to partake in the harvest of figs, grapes, and herbs right from the porch. And her freshly baked bread was out of this world. We can not say enough about how much we had loved our stay! Thank you.
