I cannot say enough positive things about Riviera Cancun. We came here on our honeymoon and it was the best decision ever. The quality and service is unbelievable! Everyday was perfect. Food, location, service, etc. What stands out most is the staff: Angelo, Julian, Eliseo, Mases, Itamar - and the rest of the gang. They made everyday fun filled, and are exceptional entertainers. We can’t wait to book our next trip here

Having stayed at the location in Playa Mujeres twice we anticipated this location to be similar and it was. Everything about this hotel is great, service, cocktails, food, lazy river…. There was a younger crowd at this location. The swim up bar pool area is very small so we stayed at the lazy river and we couldn’t have gotten better drinks service from Mathilde. Highly recommend the Excellence!

Food was very good to excellent for a resort. Drinks were good but not great. The excellence club was very expensive for what you get. The Magna restaurant has an amazing tomahawk steak which is almost worth the price of entry, but the rest of the food was not at the same level (particularly, the breakfast was only so-so… the eggs Benedict where not great). The French and lobster house restaurants were very good. Our upgraded “excellence club” room was very nice, but extremely cold at all times. Uncomfortably so. Also, our view was of the utility area of the neighbouring resort… not super. None of these things were deal-breakers. Overall, we really enjoyed the visit. It’s a nice, clean resort with many pools and good restaurants. Definitely recommended.

I have so many positives about this resort I hardly know where to start. First off, I want to say; I have nothing but positive things to say about this resort and would recommend it to anyone. My fiancee and I had the best time during our stay here. The entertainment team did a phenomenal job with there always being something to do, and the night entertainment was stellar. The cleaning and serving staff were VERY on top of everything, never saw garbage or any mess. Alex, is an ideal tennis instructor and his clinic was included, we did it daily! The beach was nice soft white sand. The equipment rental (pattleboard, sail ship, kayacs, tennis racquets, billiards, etc) & complementary trips into town were all available with no extra charge. We didn't even get to try all the different places to eat because there were so many, and all of it was excellent! There was one, that was the fanciest we've ever eaten at, and again it was all included! Couple of examples of their service excellence: -housekeepers somehow folded towels into different animals, Doves kissing, cat, basket of flowers, they would even stop by more than once a day (never when we were there) to ensure we always had fresh towels, and a stocked fridge. -24hr full room service (we could order food to our room at anytime). -complimentary rides into town. -all staff members were friendly, kind & willing to help us and several went above and beyond displaying their commitment to excellence daily. 10/10

Every staff member was awsome. Food and pool options were abundant. Activities were fun. The silent disco was a blast. I wish there were more dancing opportunities. Night entertainment could be a little better. But overall i highly recommend the Excellence Riveara.

We then weren taken to our room, which smelled absolutely horrible! Upon opening the door of the room, the very permeating smell of mildew filled the room, the smell of an old basement. We immediately called the front desk to alert them of this major issue, which they then sent maintenance to our room who took the a/c vent down and sprayed some scent to make the room smell a bit better. This scent was short lasting as all of our clothes reeked of this mildew odor and still do. We MUST soak all of our clothes to get rid of this putrid smell. Issue #2 What was also very disappointing was the level of service, or the lack thereof, which we did also tell Leylan about on Day 2 in the morning when she saw us eating. We told her that during both dinner and grabbing drinks, the servers nor the bartenders said hola, introduced themselves, etc. This is very atypical of a resort in Mexico for us as I have come here many times and 3x in the last 6 months. This by far was the worst service and engagement I've experienced in all of the resorts I've frequented. When at dinner, the server didn't greet us, we thought he was the runner filling up glassware again because he didn't introduce himself. This shouldn't be acceptable on any resort. Issue #3

All I have to say is that after going to Cancun for the last 18 years, this is the best vacation ever and the absolute pentacle of our hotel experiences at Cancun. I don’t believe there is a better place to stay. The following staff were responsible for such a memorable stay. Jessica - she guided us every step of the way and ensured we never longed for anything. She was able to ensure our stay was well planned and treated us like royalty. Best customer service I’ve ever experienced. All hotels need to hire a Jessica. Leylan - always aware of us as a group and took care of any loose ends. Her smile was very calming and always engaged whenever she would find us. Even when there was any potential issues, she stepped in and smoothed it out before we experienced any setback. She was AWESOME!!! Donaldo - my favorite chef. He would meet us in various restaurants and ensure we were taken care of. He constantly asked for our feedback and acted upon it. E.g. I was longing for coconut ice cream and although they didn’t have it at the time, he ensure some was made and during our stay there wasn’t any shortage of it. Just wow…a chef making you your favorite ice cream on the spot. Yeah…that was crazy awesome. Armando - he helped us with certain reservations and ensured we were able to experience the Tomahawk Extreme Experience. He was great. Matilde and Edgar - Best waiters for sure. We have stayed here before. This year the drinks were not consistent, The food was not consistent, Trying to find a beach chair at the club level pool was almost impossible. The staff is terrific at the pool and in the restaurants. The concierge and the check-in desk and the restaurant reservations, not so much.
