The Staff 100 percent were awesome, Sara the concierge was truly a kind person, Jesus and Damian at the Bar closest to the Ocean were great. The one thing I truly disliked was all the construction we had no pool to use except for the tiny pool on the other side of the property that everyone had to use which made it over crowded, There should have been communication from the hotel before we booked or even a simple email from either Expedia or Grand Park Royal telling us sorry and giving us either some credit or an option to rebook at another Hotel that the pool would not be in use, I understand you have maintenance and things need to be fixed but at least 16 hours a day there was construction going on because of the pool being down and other buildings being renovated. I have pictures of all the construction.

Was never told under Construction, could not keep the rain water from blowing in the sliding doors, not enough food variety. Electric to the room went out for 4 hours on one day, water was off in the room for about 3 hours one other day. Showed up to see the main pool was under construction, everyone at the Adult pool. Restaurants not open until later, or closed on certain nights.

I’m am very upset with Expedia and with Grand Park Royal for not divulging there was ongoing construction of the main pool at the time of my visit. I would have never booked this resort at this time if I had known that every view, from my room, the buffet, the restaurants overlooked a major construction area with jackhammering and men working every day. The food was not very good. We had a water main go out and lost water in our rooms and we were told we could not eat in the bar even though it was pouring rain outside. Everyone in the hotel was forced to use one pool. I have used Expedia for many years for travel but I no longer feel they have my best interests at heart. I feel someone should have been transparent about the state of the resort. I understand renovation is necessary and this resort is dated a needs a lot renovation. I just don’t want to be blindsided when I get to the property to see construction and no pool.

The property was under construction. We couldn't use the main pool at all. There were workers drilling and banging everywhere from 8 am till 7 pm. This was not mentioned anywhere on the website of the property. The food was very mediocre with very poor choices and the same every day. The drinks at the bars were watered down and made with cheap alcohol. Some of tge rdstaurants were closed. Our VIP expedia status benefits were not granted. Extremely overpriced spa and shuttle to hotel. No discount was offered although half of the amenities were unusable. Will never go back to this place.

The staff was friendly, but we were shocked that there was so much construction. We would not have booked here if we had known. Our view was of a construction site and we heard jackhammering when outside. A water main was broken during the night and we were without a toilet for hours. On our final day there was painting happening right outside of our room. Not the vacation experience we had hoped for. We are not happy that Expedia nor the hotel informed us before our stay. We could have booked later and would have loved to stay when the pool and surrounding construction was complete.

The property outside is really beautiful. There was construction in most of the hotel while we were there plus the biggest and main pool was being renovated. Therefore not only was there limited things to do, there were construction noises all day and all night. Since the main pool was closed the adult pool was full of kids and not enjoyable. The food was mediocre at best. Most of the time it was cold and not authentic. The rooms are small and the restroom is tiny making it super uncomfortable. They cold use some major updating. The AC only worked the first day we got there and then it was broken. It was hot, humid and hard to sleep because it was uncomfortable. The water pipes went down while we were there too, so no water and the toilet wouldn’t work either. Plus the shower water was always cold. On top of that the elevator to the room got stuck and we would have to manually pry the door open. I feel like I wasted my money on this “luxury” resort. There’s nothing luxury about it. By the way, while you’re eating by dinner they ask you to leave a 5 star review. So I wouldn’t trust the other reviews as genuine. I’m not trying to be mean, I’m just trying to save someone else from staying here because of false reviews.

Jessica, our concierge, was absolutely amazing, god bless her. Every demand, question, reservation we had, she had an answer to and made it happen. It was my mother’s birthday and she set up happy bday balloons in our room for her when we got back to the room from lunch. The staff, the food, and the experience was all great. Will be returning.
