Isabella was the perfect host, and the Bricks Oven a perfect place to explore Tuscany, our first visit to Italy and Isabella suggested places to visit and what was on in our stay, having our dog with us we were able to to let her off the lead at the cottage as it was very safe, if your dog is small enough to go in a shopping trolley then Carrefour is your place, they just ask for some ID until you return it, the first time we have been able to take our dog into a supermarket!
the only problem we had was with the mosquitoes in the grass, and Isabella wouldn’t be able to help with that !,! But if she could, she would have.
The air conditioning in the house was fantastic as it got up to 34 degrees on a couple of days, Lucca was a short drive away and we went there on several occasions, it was a lovely walled town and although a tourist town wasn’t packed , we found Pisa extremely busy and although seeing the leaning tower etc was great were pleased to leave.
The countryside was beautiful and we took many scenic routes. A visit to the marble mines at Carrera was amazing, the journey through the tunnels and steep hills to get there somewhat scary, we wondered at times if we were on the right road ! My husband went on the tour and enjoyed it , but said that I may have had to shut my eyes at times on the corners......
We wanted to get a feel of Tuscany and the Bricks Oven allowed us to do just that, thank you again Isabella for being such a wonderful host.
