Really enjoyed the house, wish I could have worked out the bread oven. Tried and failed.
It has everything you need although we bought a couple of items we wanted like a chopping board. Bedrooms and bathrooms were fine and the bbq area is fantastic. The bread and pizza oven beat me but was fun trying. We were bitten by local insects frequently but not sure where we were targeted. Didn't spoil anything at all. Sarah welcomed us and took time to show us around the house which was a nice touch.
Take care to be economical with electricity as this is an additional charge. We paid 24 euros at the end of our 2 weeks.
The local info could do with updating but we found our way to what we needed.
Driving is an experience, hesitate and you lose is the rule I think. I could not work out priorities at junctions.
Visit etna if you don't mind the drive. Guided walking tour to latest eruptions 2002 was exceptional.
Tindari is wonderful and don't miss the roman town remains up there. Not well cared for but very interesting.
We liked the beach at capo Di Orlando at ligthouse end for a quiet read.
We also liked Brolo and kefalu is stunning. If you like a bit of an adventure try catafurlco waterfall. Bit of a hike but worth it. The lane had a bit of a fence blocking it but was only to keep animals out or in? Just undo and put back as you walk through. Don't drive your car too far along the lane!
Over all a great 2 weeks. Recommended.
