Wonderful
Loved the apartment. Clean, roomy, attractive, comfortable, everything worked. Terrace was excellent. Everything for an extended stay. Great quiet location, minutes from sites and eateries. Communication was excellent. Wine basket was a nice touch. Stairs were a bit of a challenge, but would not prevent me from looking to book this apartment again if I return to Carcassonne. Thank you Richard

A lovely week in Carcassonne
Richard and Helen's place is a well appointed apartment with everything we needed for our stay. We ate out a couple of times but also made good use of the kitchen to prepare our own meals. Richard was always very responsive with answers to any questions that we had. Parking in the area sadly doesn't seem to be free anymore but we found the local underground car parks will sell a week long ticket for 20Euros which was very reasonable.

Great place but loud except for lovely church bells.
It was a lovely, well kept space. Just insanely loud on a hot night. Probably not always true, but was that one night.

Good central location - Very good customer service
Couple of minor issues when we arrived, dealt with very very quickly by the owner - can't fault the customer service! Nice clean apartment near the town centre on a quiet street. Lots of parking nearby. Lots to do in the area especially if you enjoy history and castles. Municipal lake nearby for swimming.

Great Find
We were very pleased with this great small apartment which was in a perfect location. Easy to reach the canal, railway station and the main square with lots of restaurants. Also only a pleasant 20 minute stroll to the medieval city which is well worth a visit. We appeeciated the lovely balcony at the rear of the property overlooking greenery and the church and enjoyed the bottle of wine left by Richard the owner. Thank you Richard. The apartment was equipped with eveything you needed including a fan which was greatly appreciated as it was very hot during our stay. Highly recommended.

A good place to stay
We arrived early and were lucky to be able to check in before 4. Unfortunately, the check in was hurried and we did not get any information about the unit. Also, the stairs are very tight and steep so be careful with luggage. The apartment itself is a good size with a nice bed and extra pillows and quilts. The windows block out street noise well. The back patio is a real treat and the bells from the nearby church are delightful. Our biggest issue was that the internet was terrible. Richard was very quick to respond to our concerns but they were not resolved.

Lovely Apartment
Really enjoyed our stay here. The apartment was immaculate through out. The terrace was a welcome bonus to relax after a day sight seeing with a glass or two! Raymond collected us from the airport and gave us information on Carcassonne which was very helpful. The apartment is in the centre of town, so handy for sight seeing and lots of restaurants nearby. We would certainly stay here again and recommend others to do so. Raymond and Julie are perfect hosts

Nice apartment in the Bastide!
Lovely apartment in the heart of Bastide. Parking was easy outside the apartment and there is also more free parking nearby. Raymond met us to check in and provided really useful information on local area. We really appreciated the bottle of wine, baguette and butter on arrival also! We slept on the sofa bed and my daughter took the bedroom - both comfy. Balcony is great bonus and there are good cooking facilities. We were there in the middle of a heat wave and it was warm but fans were provided which really helped. Great place and would stay again!

Fantastic place to relax and explore
Quick summary: Brilliant stay here. Terrace is just what was needed for evening wine and cool air. From initial correspondence with Raymond we were immediately at ease that our booking was going to go well. Raymond was helpful at each stage and very willing to answer questions or reply to emails, usually within an hour. Raymond arranged to meet us at the train station arrival and as good as his word, Raymond and Julie were there with bottles of cold water for us (it was a very hot day). We took a short walk (5minutes) to the apartment, with Raymond pointing out landmarks and other useful information for our stay. The apartment was on the top floor up the authentic spiral staircase, with some lovely featured such as beams and the much sought after terrace. We got a lot of information about our location, activities, places to eat etc. There is an excellent welcome folder and box of leaflets covering the local area and slightly further afield. Raymond and Julie were ery helpful with information about public transport and pointed out a number of locations on the map. There was a very welcome bottle of wine left for us, which did not make it past the first night. Flat is fully equipped for self-catering but you are less than a 5 minute walk away from the main square and many lovely places to sit and eat. The flat is not air conditioned but does have electric fans. When we were in the apartment we usually opened a kitchen window and the terrace doors which created a cool breeze that sorted temperature out - we visited on probably the hottest week of the year. The apartment is on a quiet street and the terrace overlooks a green and flowery garden (I'm told underneath this is a resident car park but you can't see it) and St Vincent's church tower which is lit up at night and is a lovely view. We visited primarily to see the Tour de France end a stage in Carcassonne and could not have had a better experience. Genuinely lovely place to stay in a great location with everything we needed. I'm sure the terrace alone could sell the place but Raymond and Julie are fantastic hosts that definitely look after their guests. 5 star rating is truly deserved and I hope to be back in the future.

Convenient in Carcassonne
This apartment was an ideal base from which to explore Carcassonne's Cité and Bastide areas. The walled city was about a 20-minute stroll (longer if you were diverted by the shops). Within a very short walk was Place Carnot, containing some great looking places to eat, a small Carrefour supermarket and a wonderful fruit and vegetable market on Saturday. If you have a car there is on-street parking immediately opposite the apartment. You have to pay, using a nearby machine to obtain a ticket, but it's not expensive and Raymond can explain the easiest way to get the maximum time for your money without having to buy several tickets. We were in the apartment on the top floor of the building, accessed via a winding staircase, the last few steps of which at the top have a very narrow tread so care needs to be taken when going up or down. Once inside, it feels spacious because of the high ceilings and all rooms were in great condition, with comfortable furniture. The weather was cold during our visit but there are electric wall heaters in all rooms so we were always warm enough. The apartment has a useful balcony space which would be great for eating outside during warmer weather. The nearby bell tower of St Vincent's church, from which there is apparently a great view of the city, made its audible presence regularly felt but we didn't feel disturbed by the bells and they were silent through the night. Raymond's communication with us in the weeks and days before our trip was really useful and he was kind enough to meet us on arrival to help with luggage and familiarise us with all aspects of the apartment. He also gave us advice on the best sights to visit and places to eat, the details of which were on business cards and in the helpful welcome book. In conclusion, the apartment and its most welcoming host would make any visit to Carcassonne a genuine pleasure.

Great stay!
We really enjoyed our 4 days in Carcassonne. Raymond was kind enough to meet us at the airport and give us a short tour which was very much appreciated. The apartment was up very steep stairs which was fine for us but if you had any mobility problems, you would struggle. There is a lovely balcony overlooking trees and church at the back....we enjoyed having breakfast here. The street at the front (bedroom side) is very noisy but ear plugs sorted that out. The apartment is great, really authentic and rustic and easy walking distance to the old medieval city. We would really recommend this place.
