As a solo female traveler I was startled by a man trying to get into my room about 9pm . Then housekeeping walked in I was speechless & shaken up , she then came back knocked my door & apologised the very woman who gave me details for my room nearly ended up by checking a male in the same room.. it was unsettling as I could hear people walking about different times of the night up till 6am strange considering no one man’s the desk between 9pm - 8am .. I wouldn’t stay again for this reason as a solo female traveler..
Clean, organised, generous teas and coffees tray… all in all, for the cost? Don’t think we’ve had better! Cheap, clean, smelled clean, and had been looked after… you could say that some of the furniture was perhaps a bit dated, but it’s been well kept and looked after, which is a good sign of being a good hotel
I was courteously acknowledged by Krishna, the receptionist, who showed me to my room and carried my small case up the two flights of stairs for me as I was 92 and a little slow.
I was comfortably settled and left early the next morning.

Quaint & old
The hotel was great, only saw 1 member of staff & he was on reception. The bar was not open due to staff shortages unfortunately. The room was quite spacious for a twin room. The room had beautiful sash windows. But the furniture was quite modern.
All the rooms are on the top floor from what I can gather & the stairs are very uneven & there is no lift.
An old nice building trying to transform into a swan but ended half way. The room is nice with modern bathroom and finishing. But they kept the wooden floor and stairway that's squeaky, irregular, and noisy. Should give it a more complete makeover.
Room and ensuite were clean and well presented. Kingsized bed comfortable
Shops and restaurants all in easy walking distance of the hotel.
Only downside. No lift.
Near the town centre so very handy for a night out
The bar in the hotel closed at 9 so had to go to town anyway and couldn’t use bar earlier as there was a private party there
Well worth the money and will definitely go there again in the future

Does what it says on the bottle!
Stayed overnight for a business trip. Very basic hotel with no catering but excellent value for money. Room was large and toasty warm. My only criticism was that the hotel relies on motion sensitive lighting and this was slow to activate, so I found myself walking along dark corridors with no light, and a few times I tripped over steps but apart from this, the hotel did what it said on the bottle.
The best thing was i was only there 2 nights. Mould in the bathroom. Bed creaked so not a good nights sleeps. The people i spoke to were ok but the place seemed dead and dated. Coffee tea not replenished nor bed made. Will not be going back

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Comfortable and clean room at a good price.
The room exceeded our expectation. It was modern, well furnished and with a really good modern bathroom. In the room there was a hairdryer and iron and ironing board and tea and coffee making facilities. The windows were double glazed and cut most of the road noise.
The hotel only has a concierge between 3pm-9pm and does not offer food or beverages. The very helpful young lady on reception when we checked in printed a list of restaurants nearby for both dinner and breakfast. Essentially outside of those hours the hotel is closed but residents enter a side door by using the room key.
There are a number of narrow stairs leading to the rooms and there is no lift, this being a very old building, so I’d suggest it would not be suitable for disabled guests or people with mobility issues.
All in all our stay was comfortable and absolutely fine. The lack of food service was not a problem as the hotel is situated close to plenty of restaurants and cafes.
