Here, welcomed guests find timeless indoor and outdoor spaces of comfort, elegance and serenity at our 1-BR (with separate Office) JUNGALOW GUEST HOUSE.
The JUNGALOW is particularly geared for ADULTS and SENIOR GUESTS looking to relax and unwind in luxury....amidst nature’s beauty. It is also an ideal destination for those wishing to take a very special "working vacation”, where one can enjoy spending quiet times working in comfortable surroundings!
The JUNGALOW is a private residence located at the Garden-level. It has private entrances, gardens and furnished outdoor spaces, with beautiful Victorian and Arts and Crafts stained-glass windows and doors, and multiple French doors throughout. There are beautiful vistas overlooking three directions - North, East and South.
To the East, are the Camellia Gardens; to the South, are the mesmerizing planted South Gardens. The Jungalow has a private screened-in Veranda, accessed through French doors from the Bedroom. There are walkways that lead from the Veranda to the Meditation Garden, the Chinese Pavilion, the Orb Garden and the Observation Deck.
The Jungalow is located adjacent to the "Lodge". Guests sometimes like to additionally rent the Lodge, when available, for those larger family gatherings and visiting friends…

Particularly of interest to those wishing to work while in residence at the Jungalow, is the DEN (STUDY), with its enchanting views of the East Camellia Gardens seen through several windows. The Den has a large desk and an Aeron orthopedic desk chair, a large comfortable sleep sofa (where a third guest could be accommodated comfortably), and vintage leather arm chair with leather foot chair; a chest-of drawers and cable TV.
There is Wi-Fi throughout the residence: Wi-Fi Speed: 1 Gig; Available Data Usage: 6,000 Gigabytes. ETHERNET Jack is available.
The Jungalow’s eclectic ENTRY PARLOR is a cozy reception area with an 1880's canapé and ottomans, a 1960's Scandinavian sideboard, and a mesmerizing Victorian stained-glass window.
The DINING ROOM area has French doors which open onto the East Camellia gardens. A round glass-covered table can accommodate four people, and there are two chests of drawers. There is a separate BREAKFAST NOOK, supplied with both a Keurig and a drip coffee maker. Various select coffees are provided as are other breakfast necessities.
The galley KITCHEN is located off the dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped, with all the usual appliances but no dishwasher (see listing and photos).
The Jungalow also has a large & fabulous "Jack-n-Jill" BATHROOM, with an extraordinary 1890's six foot-long cast-iron roll-rim TUB (restored), with antique French nickel valves and Art Nouveau English wall tiles that surround the tub.
Sink surround is granite with Kohler fittings. The bathroom also has a separate Walk-In Shower and WC.
The "Narnia" BEDROOM has a Queen size sleigh bed, rare antiques, small desk, armchairs, and a majestic 18thC Danish WARDROBE.
French doors open from the BR onto the private roofed and screened-in brick-floored VERANDA, which faces the beautiful South gardens. There is a Bistro table and various seating for guests on their veranda. The veranda's double screen doors on the east and west make one feel as though one is sitting directly in the midst of the Gardens just beyond…
In the GARDEN PARLOR, which is located between the Den and the BR, one finds a beautiful Arts and Crafts lead glass French door set, which open onto the East Camellia Gardens. In the Parlor, there is a small desk, chair, an antique 1880's Wicker settee and a wardrobe. Antiques, original paintings, unique art works and 19th C stained glass windows adorn the JUNGALOW throughout.
Outdoors, several “Garden Rooms" filled with native and exotic plantings, add beauty, attract butterflies and birds, and bring peace to the stressed-out visitor.
Strolling through the expansive and stunning SOUTH GARDENS, there are timeless LANTERN-LIT paths, and guests can explore and perhaps discover the location of the “secret" MEDITATION GARDEN!
Elsewhere in the Gardens, there is the screened-in CHINESE PAVILION which is a destination where guests can bring a meal to enjoy al fresco (there is a table and seating for six guests, and a sink), play cards or backgammon, relax in the hammock or enjoy a therapeutic outdoor massage (with advanced appointment).
On the expansive OBSERVATION DECK, with its numerous seating, tables and Adirondack chairs, guests can meditate on the amazing views and the mesmerizing sea horizon — experience stunning sunrises and sunsets —or sit with friends (or alone) around the LARGE custom-designed FIRE PIT (54”diameter) and look up with awe at the billions of stars sparkling in the night sky!
While on the DECK, one can play OUTDOOR BILLIARDS (on the regulation size pool table), or practice yoga (we can provide mats) or swing on old-fashioned WOOD SWINGS….or just sip a glass of wine or toast marshmallows as the sun sets over the sea horizon.
Within a 3-min walk through the South gardens, there is a small PRIVATE BEACH across the road from the Retreat for our Guests and their Pets’ enjoyment!
Beach chairs, beach towels and beach umbrellas are provided for our guests. Once there, there are water and sky views with virtually no man-made structures in sight.
At LOW TIDE, guests can enjoy beautiful walks, perhaps accompanied by their beloved pet, while watching shore birds and jumping dolphins and breathing-in the healthful sea air amused by their four-legged companions trying to catch little crabs along the water's edge...
