Away from the hustle and bustle and the stress of everyday life, Chalet Flatsch is on a mountain farm in the municipality of Kastelbell-Tschars and immerses guests in the natural beauty of Vinschgau. Having won the Young Mountain Farmer Prize in 2016 for its exemplary work as a mountain farm, this accommodation offers guests both a beautiful home and unique experiences with local farmers and farm animals.
Stretching over 2 floors, the elegant holiday home is constructed of rustic wood and consists of a living room with a sofa bed (for one person), a well-equipped kitchen, 4 bedrooms (one of which with 2 single beds and another with one single bed) as well as 2 bathrooms. The home can therefore accommodate 8 people. Additional amenities include Wi-Fi as well as a washing machine and a dryer, which can be used upon request for a small charge. Furthermore, this property is especially family-friendly, as it offers a baby cot, a highchair, toys, children’s books and an on-site playground. On your private, furnished terrace with a barbecue, you are invited to enjoy freshly-cooked meals and stunning mountain views.
The big adventure playground and the petting zoo offer pure entertainment for little guests. You can also experience the everyday life of the farmers up close - feeding the animals, the hay harvest in summer and helping with baking bread. The homeowners are happy to take you on a guided tour of the farm and stable.
Not far from the farm, just a 5-minute walk away, you will find the small chapel of the Trumsberg, which a farmer built out of gratitude for the healthy sons returning from the 2nd World War. The neighbouring farm "Niedermoar" offers typical Tyrolean delicacies for lunch and dinner (reservation required). The Hofschank Platzmair, which is a 25-minute walk or 2 km away, also offers homemade specialities. The centre of Kastelbell, with shops, supermarkets and restaurants, can be reached after a 20-minute drive or 9 km. From Kastebell you have direct access to the Vinschger Bahn, the bus and the cycling path of the Via Claudia Augusta.
The hiking area around the Kastelbeller Sonnenberg offers you a great variety of trails. In the midst of this beautiful nature, the farm is an ideal starting point for summit tours, alpine and lake walks and leisurely walks along the Vinschger Höhenweg or the Waalwege.
Mountain bikers will also find many paths on Sonnenberg with various difficulty levels - uphill paths, downhill paths and trails. The Montesole Trail was named the most beautiful trail in the Alps by a biking magazine and is a welcome playground for demanding bikers. The flat valley floor of Vinschgau is a great option for hobby cyclists and families.
Parking spaces are available on the property. Bed linens and towels are included in the price. A breakfast with the local products from the farm can be provided for an extra charge.
The homeowner will provide you upon arrival with a VinschgauCard (valid for the length of the stay), which allows you to use the Vinschgau Railway and all other public transport in South Tyrol free of charge. The card furthermore gives you discounts on cable cars, museums and other leisure facilities.
Pets are only allowed on request and must be paid 8 € per day directly on site.
