Holiday To Central Coast
You have pretty high standards for your getaway, and you should! If you want to be surrounded by gorgeous state forests and plenty of golden beaches, we have a place in mind.
Want to escape to the big city sights of Sydney or get your float on at Lake Macquarie? You can do that too! Heck, you can do anything you want when you’re on holiday in the Central Coast—well, within reason. All set? Grab some stellar Central Coast holiday deals and slather on the sun cream!
Things to Do in Central Coast
Located about 80 km north of Sydney, the Central Coast region includes several towns and villages, like Gosford, Erina and Wyong. And there are so many beaches lining the landscape that you could spend your entire Central Coast holiday deciding on a favourite. If you’re arriving via Sydney, pick up a Central Coast car hire from Wotif and feel the ocean breeze on your way out to Umina Beach. Taking up its fair share of Broken Bay, Umina is a popular stretch of sand with wave breaks for the surfers and easy access to Brisbane Water National Park—complete with Aboriginal sandstone carvings—for the landlubbers. Keep winding your way through Brisbane Water to Gosford, the biggest city in this little slice of heaven. Dry off long enough for a cool culture fix at the Gosford Regional Gallery, where you can wander through the gardens, hang out with koi and ducks, and browse awesome works of art from all over the country. OK, enough of that. Back to the beach! Drive east of Gosford, but pull over and put up your sunbrella before you roll into the blue waters at Avoca Beach. Paddle around in a kayak or catch a movie at the historic Avoca Beach Picture Theatre before continuing this road trip up the coast.
Shopping, Dining & Nightlife
When you want to pick up some treasures to take home, the inland town of Erina is the place to be. The Central Coast doesn’t have many major shopping districts, but Erina is home to a mall and a handful of boutiques, just east of Gosford. You’ll also find heaps of beachy gift shops sprinkled throughout the waterfront towns, so start combing the beaches.
In case you hadn’t heard, Central Coast holidays are for foodies. To sample seaside eats and international treats, stuff your face all the way up the coastline. Avoca Beach and Gosford have impressive culinary scenes, and further north the towns circling Chittaway Bay are also delish. Start in The Entrance—a town, but also a gateway to amazing seafood—and work your way around to Wyong.
Around this region, the nightlife is low-key, ranging from hotel patio cars to local pubs. Avoca, Gosford and the area around The Entrance are home to a variety of clubs and venues for busting a move or sipping with sophistication. And don’t forget, you won’t be far from Sydney’s entertainment central.
