The room smelled terrible!!! It was a dank, stale smell that also smelled of a combination of urine and bleach. I burned a strong Redwoods-smelling candle in there for two hours. It did not help. I will not stay at King Oscar again. The cleaning standard is way below my standard of what “clean” means.

My only problem was that I could tell, there was no ice machine. A hole where it should have been. The gal was amazed to hear that, but didn't offer to go down there with me. So I left with no ice!

4 day weekend get away
the room was clean, the sink faucet leaked onto the counter & floor overnight, I could have had a bad fall. the light over the sink did not work made it hard to shave. other than that the room was great!

We walked in the room and walked right back out and gave them the key back. It looked like there were people living there, with bed sheets over the windows. The outside looked gross. The room smelled like wet dog, had a very large area in the carpet that was so worn that there was no carpet left and you could see the wood sub-floor, and a large hole in the tile entry where you could see wood sub-floor. I would have been afraid to sleep there. We found another hotel a mile down the road.

The short list of pros for this hotel is that the shower temp was hot. As for the cons: -the hotel was not clean, the mirrors in our room were smudged and streaked like someone wiped them with dirty towels. -there were quite a few large rips in the carpets resulting in tripping hazard. -at one spot in the room, the tile was broken and had loose tile pieces, if we had the small children with us in our room they probably would have cut their feet on that spot. -the beds were extremely hard, and seemed small for a "queen" -the pool was closed for resurfacing, which was not disclosed to us until we had finished checking in and paying. -in one of the rooms, the TV was not working. Office staffed offered to move the occupants of that room to the far side of the motel, which would have separated our group(we booked three rooms at the same time to keep everyone together) not the biggest deal, but extremely annoying. -the breakfast said it included yogurt, there was no yogurt or even a fridge to keep it in. -some of the tenants in the upper area would stand over the railing and glare at anyone walking by or unloading cars. This isn't really a motel issue, but staying at a nicer place would probably prevent this. -our room did not have a safety bar latch on the inside, just ripped out holes where it used to be. -the light at our entryway was either burnt out or not working. I understand you get what you pay for, but at the VERY least I would expect working amenities and safe rooms.

This motel was cheap, friendly staff. But the people around and staying in this motel, we didn't feel safe. There were men checking us out and my kids. They gave the vibe of human trafficking. I wouldn't stay here again.

Everything was pretty good. We had chosen this particular hotel, because it was close to the venue which was our destination and it had a pool. When we got there, we found that it did not have a working pool. That was a bummer.

Good inexpensive motel
This motel has had several negative reviews. I can assure you that the conditions are much better than other people think. The problems with undesirables in the area is virtually non-existent. This motel is good for a short stay of two or three days. Most of the issues are minor and primarily cosmetic. The hide-a-bed had worn spots. The paint job behind the head of the bed wasn't complete. The major issues are the damage to the inside of the bathroom door, and, the soap dish in the bathtub is broken. The motel seems to be part residential and part commercial. One of the motel rooms has a sign for a Fortune Teller. What surprised me the most is that an inexpensive motel like this can offer a continental breakfast, including Belgian Waffles.
