About 4 km. from the town of Cerdedo, in the middle of TERRA DE MONTES, and already announcing the proximity of the RÍAS BAIXAS, it is located in the small village of Castro Domedio. Medieval bridges, paths that are lost among forests, fishermen awaiting patients at the edge of a river ...
The Casa da Labaceira is very sunny, facing southeast. Sitting in the gallery one ends up closing the book, and stares at sunset in a huge sky. It happens every day, but it's always different. The house, composed of two buildings, has approximately 200 m2. Careful decoration, with a good collection of paintings. Walks through a quiet village, always accompanied by the sound of water that runs through its narrow streets.

The house is located in an interior region, the so-called Terra de Montes, where many rivers flow through its orography, including those that later flow into the Rías Baixas. The Umia river, in the Ría de Arousa near Cambados, and the Lérez and Verdugo rivers that make up the Pontevedra and Vigo estuaries at its exit to the sea.
It is a region dotted with buildings closely linked to the rural world such as water mills, very numerous along all its rivers, although today most are in disuse. And it is undoubtedly the Galician region that has the largest number of granaries, some of large size such as the Casa da Labaceira. The granary is a construction, of very different typology in all Galicia, and that was used mainly to store the corn before shelling it, and in general other fruits of the field, and also the products of the slaughter of the pig. What was called "a facenda da casa", something like the domestic pantry.
The situation of the house is ideal to know the interior landscapes of Galicia, a continuum of mountains and valleys, and also because of its location allows you to make good excursions through a wide area of Galicia, except for northern Galicia, with non-car tours more than 80/90 minutes to the chosen area. The ATLANTIC HIGHWAY (AP9) that allows all directions is about 30 min from the house.
Thus, if we want to go to Pontevedra city (very attractive old part, good atmosphere of wines and tapas), the journey by car is about 40 minutes, without the need to enter the highway. If we want to go to RÍA DE PONTEVEDRA: Sanxenxo, Playa de la Lanzada, O Grove, San Vicente do Grove, Isla de la Toja, we must not enter the city of Pontevedra. You enter the highway and then take a highway which goes to the area, approximately 60 min by car.
To go to the RIA DE AROUSA (Vilagarcía, Cambados, to Illa de Arousa, this island is very worthwhile, for beach and restaurants and there is a bridge from the coast), take the highway and leave immediately in the surroundings of Pontevedra by road in the direction of Vilagarcía, about 60 min too.
For VIGO AND PORTUGAL, by the highway. Vigo at 45 min and Portugal at 60 minutes. Famous markets in Valença do Minho (Wednesday) and Vilanova de Cerveira (Saturdays). To visit very beautiful Valença, Vilanova and Caminha, and if there was enough time Viana do Castelo.
For SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, the trip inside (A Estrada) is 45 min. The last section by highway.
To go to the beach, 60 minutes by car is the COSTA DE ALDÁN, near Marín, with magnificent beaches and attractive interior landscapes. There is an exceptional Celtic castro in Cabo Home with spectacular views of the sea and the interior. From this end it seems that the Cies Islands are reached by hand, and the Island of Ons is also very well seen. It is advisable not to go on the weekend.
An area of the interior much appreciated for its landscapes, food and wine, such as the so-called RIBEIRA SACRA, the trip to Chantada (Lugo) is about 80 min. The tour is a vivid picture of the interior landscape of Galicia, with its native forests (oaks, chestnuts, birches). The trip is through the Serra do Candán, Lalín, Monte do Faro and once in Chantada, about 10 minutes away is the Miño River and the stepped vineyards. Very nice walk along the river. Restaurant nearby or in Chantada itself. Romanesque churches
