This is not a hotel as advertised on Expedia. There is no open restaurant, bar or attached winery as stated on the Expedia description.
The accommodation itself is fantastic, very clean and comfortable and has clearly had time and money put into it. The beds were very comfortable. I was sent check in instructions an hour before check in so did not meet the host at any point during my stay.
There is access to the pool in Casa D’Africa which is a restaurant opposite the accommodation. The guests have exclusive use of this on certain days during the week although no one checks this and there were many people who were clearly not guests just turning up to use the pool. On a Monday night this restaurant has a “party night” so there are all sorts of people turning up in their cars and there is music and partying until around 1-2am. That should be advertised before booking, especially if you have young children with you and are trying to sleep.
Casa D’Africa is closed on a Tuesday and Wednesday so we did not get to eat in the restaurant. The location of the property is out of the way of the town so you do need a car to get to local restaurants etc. So there is no where to get a drink or eat something at the hotel.
The host has created a very helpful instruction book with local restaurants, vineyard tours etc.
We had a comfortable stay but it was nothing like I expected and so I wanted to give an honest review so that people know what to expect.
