Enjoy all that a lakefront summer has to offer in this cozy cabin! This rustic original log cabin, is situated directly on beautiful Lake Champlain, on the New York side, with captivating views of both the lake and the mountains. You can enjoy the peace and quiet of the lake and the "Point Au Fer Circle", or rev up your vacation with fun activities such as: swimming, fishing, boating, golfing, biking or hiking, to name a few.
Our cabin offers guests a wonderful opportunity to vacation on Lake Champlain. The lake setting with blue waters and the majestic mountain scenery is breathtaking. The location of this cabin is unique, it is situated on a peninsula with rich history. For many years, Point au Fer wasn’t where people lived, but where they fought. The small peninsula, the former battleground for American and British soldiers, is nestled along Lake Champlain on the eastern side of the town of Champlain that currently contains under 100 residents, mainly summer homes. Many of the families living on the road are third generation summer residents. Everyone is friendly and the peaceful nature of the area makes you feel as if you have stepped back in time. Enjoy a quiet walk around the two mile circle and you will see an abundance of wildlife and pretty flowers. It is the perfect place for children to ride their bikes and play in the large yard. After a nice walk your family will enjoy a dip in the cool clean waters of the lake. The rocky bottom keeps the water very clear and also makes water shoes a must. You'll be in awe the moment you arrive! The days are long, warm and lazy, inviting you to kick back as you relax surrounded by the natural beauty of the land and water!
HOME FEATURES:
Inside the cabin you will feel totally relaxed, it is warm and very clean. This seasonal camp is set on a beautiful tree filled lot with 90 feet of lake front property. It is decorated nicely for a very pleasant stay. The open concept living room, dining room and kitchen, offers cozy furnishings for relaxation, as you take in the breath-taking views outside. Outside on the front lawn facing the lake is a fire pit perfect for evening fires and roasting marshmallows, so be sure to bring fire wood.
KITCHEN /DINING
The kitchen has been remodeled, it is small but well stocked with all the kitchenware you'll need to dine in. But if you're like us in the summer, most meals will be cooked on the grill outside. The kitchen has the usual stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, crock pot, and blender (smoothies for the kids and frozen concoctions for the adults!). The water comes from the lake and is safe for everything but drinking, so bring bottled water for personal consumption. The dining room table can be extended to seat eight with beautiful views of the lake while you eat. There is also an outside dining table that seats six.
FAMILY GATHERING AREAS:
The living room with the opened loft above feels large and airy. It has comfortable leather furniture for relaxing, and a fire place, creating a calm and romantic ambiance. There are plenty of windows to enjoy the lake front view. A charming sitting area by the windows makes the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or curl up with a good book. Open the windows to let in a gentle breeze and you will want to spend hours just relaxing listening to the waves lapping the shore and staring at the beauty of nature.
BEDROOMS / BATHROOMS
The master bedroom, has a comfy king-size bed and plenty of room for a portable crib. The first guest bedroom, has a queen-size bed and the loft has a full-size bed. The full bathroom has a shower. The water is pumped from the lake, so the water pressure is a bit slow, but still enables a refreshing shower.
PRIVATE BEACH:
Take a few steps down the path to the private beach for a dip in the pristine lake. It is a bit steep so use the rocks on the side for balance. When walking in the water hold on to the dock as the rocks are slippery. Perhaps, you will enjoy casting your fishing line in one of the best fisheries in the nation, Lake Champlain of course! Water sports are big here on the lake. You can bring your own boat. The Great Chazy River Boat landing, where you can launch your boat, is a short distance away on Route 9B. If the lake is rough you can put your kayaks in and paddle or fish in the river. There are two sit on top kayaks in the garage. We have one child and three adult bikes, you can bring extra bicycles and enjoy a ride along the quiet back roads of Rouses Point and Champlain, where you'll find a variety of beautiful wild flowers, colorful birds, picturesque farms, and other pleasurable scenery.
