Come discovery a new place unknown to only a select few: Seabrook Island!
Seabrook Island found just south of Charleston and Folly Beach nestled between some of America’s best beaches: to the north Kiawah Island’s Beachwalker Park and to the south, Edisto Island.
Seabrook Island is a nature preserve in an Audubon International Sustainable Community. This is the place to enjoy the beach where the people aren’t! Who doesn’t love an opportunity to try horseback riding on the beach?! Enjoy some tremendous shelling, surfing or, watching the dolphins strand feed at Capt. Sam’s Spit at North beach adjacent to Kiawah Island’s Beachwalker Park.
There are ample activities to explore on the island and nearby: beautiful sunrises at the beach and sunsets along the Atlantic Ocean's inlet with the North Edisto River. You can enjoy kayaking with Camp St. Christopher, biking throughout the island as well as fishing and bird watching.
Fun fact: we’re home to some migratory birding populations only found here including Red Knots at Deveaux Bank and the Netflix hit series OBX has been filmed here!
Turtles Nest here in summer and our Turtle patrol hosts watch parties to coax them into to the ocean for their first swim- a fun experience for all to enjoy. Come visit this magical place where you can fish, crab, paint and photograph beautiful South Carolina Lowcountry landscapes.
Bohicket (Creek) Marina is a few minutes ride by car or bike where you can grab some gourmet ice cream while watching beautiful sunsets, or enjoy a boat drink or seafood delicacies at Saveurs du Monde, The Salty Dog Restaurant or Fishers Pub. Or, consider taking a charter cruise to explore Privateer Creek -a favorite place in colonial times for pirate ships (yes Blackbeard!) to hide while waiting for unsuspecting ships to pass by or watch the dolphins play and feed.
Freshfields Village also nearby offers all of the conveniences of town; a grocery store, fantastic restaurants such as Hege’s, The Wine Bar as well as some fantastic shopping.
Some other fun facts: OBX the Netflix series was filmed here at Camp St. Christopher, Bohicket Marina and Kiawah Island. Consider taking an OBX tour while you are here or enjoy lunch or a cocktail at the Ocean Course.
