Even though it was an old hotel it was very well maintained!! Had an old smell but not terrible! Maybe some air fresheners in the room would be nice! Bed were great and very comfortable!!

It is in an amazing area that is close to lots of shopping and dining options. The park is right across the street. There was a market Saturday morning. It’s so close to many historic tours and the market. The hotel lobby is beautiful. They offer water, coffee, and cookies daily. The rooms are historic in nature. Bathroom was small, but expected for an older building. Very clean though. Starbucks and restaurant on site which is a great option to have.

The Francis Marion Hotel has a great location, right across from Marion Square and on the corner of King and Calhoun Streets downtown. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and efficient. It was a quick process to checkin and out. Housekeeping did a great job as well. The lobby was a comfortable place to wait for friends. The condition of the rooms, however, was only adequate. The furniture is dated and worn down. The rug is definitely past its use-by date. And the bathroom was small with an oddly featured industrial toilet. Water pressure was mediocre. The one positive was that the mattresses appeared new and were quite comfortable. All-in-all, it wasn’t a bad hotel - it was just a bit overpriced for what you get.

Lovely hotel centrally located with warm & helpful staff. Couldn’t ask for a nicer time. Rooms were cleaned impeccably every day. We had a great vacation & highly recommend the Francis Marion Hotel for your stay.

We enjoy staying at historic hotels. Staff was excellent! Room was large (handicap room - ok with us). Common areas including elevators were worn. While we were there, a convention was checking out and another convention was checking in. This is probably the reason for the slow elevators

The hallway doors kept slamming shut by the housekeeper. Older building as to be expected. Bathroom door wouldn’t shut and the beds are super small even though a king was requested. Otherwise, the location was fantastic and staff was friendly.

This is a prime location hotel that is extremely outdated. There was a huge cockroach in the bathroom in the bed was uncomfortable.

The Francis Marion is one of the older Hotels in Charleston which makes it unique in charm. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is in a great location. Once you park your car you don’t need it again until you depart. Would definitely book the Francis Marion for our next trip to Charleston.
