You can tell that management has tried to keep the property up but there are still several shortfalls. Lots of deferred maintenance. Toilet was barely attached to the floor. Shower had a very cheap tub insert. The room and sheets reeked of mold and mildew. No trash can in the room. Overall floor was clean and paint was near but it still felt a little dirty. Check in staff wasn’t overly friendly either. Overall experience was average at best.

I generally enjoy the Congress Hotel - the history and the gorgeous lobby - however our room this time was disappointing - toilet ran constantly and there was no hot water this morning. We were in the south tower, last stay was great in the north tower. They also never seem to have enough staff working in the bar. Hope it’s better next time because it is an iconic hotel and great location

I love the character of old hotels and this one did not disappoint. Pros: we had hot water for showers, plenty of towels, a comfortable bed, two onsite restaurants to choose from, and two complimentary bottles of water in our room. We called for room service one night; they were friendly and fast. The food was excellent and the portion sizes were more than generous. I ordered the hummus and the tacos, both appetizers, and I had enough food to feed 4 people! My husband ordered the club sandwich and he, too, could have fed 4 people with the size sandwich and amount fries he got. Cons: the temperature could not be set. It was either heat or nothing. Spend the extra money if you want a room with a view or you’ll be disappointed looking out your window. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

I will never stay at another hotel in this area. The Congress is not only affordable (even the lake view options) but it is beautiful! The high ceilings and natural light in the rooms is unbeatable! My experience is always seamless and the staff are so helpful!

The check in staff did not explain anything to me. I had to call them to ask where we can get breakfast and what the wifi information was. The bathroom smelled humid, there was rust all over the bathroom, the walls were cracked. Breakfast was dry/cold with only little to no variety of food options. The coffee machine was not working. Overall will never stay here again.
