Outside The Cottage:
Wonderfully large, private backyard (i.e., shared with us, but not with any other properties) with hot tub, water feature, palapa, fire pit and Sunny swimming pool! You also have your own furnished deck. We do not share the pool or hot tub with you, those are exclusively yours. We do, however, have to let our dogs out periodically to potty.
Inside:
Comfortable and cute, the cottage comes fully furnished: kitchen with Dansk dishes, silverware, cooking knives, Kitchen Aid Mixer, Cuisinart, blender, Keurig style coffee maker, with pods provided, pots, pans, mixing bowls...gas stove; whatever you may need, it should be there. Extra rolls of paper towels and new sponges are provided as are any cleaning supplies you may need. Dish soap and liquid hand soap are also stocked.
The wall unit is a mini split and provides heat and air conditioning. There is a ceiling fan in the living room and bedroom plus portable fans for additional air circulation in the summer time.
Soaps, towels, razors, hand lotion, puzzle books and pencils are stashed in the bathroom along with extra t.p. and Kleenex.
There is also a stacked washer/dryer with laundry soap provided, built-in ironing board (I know, who irons?), iron, spray starch, queen sized bed (additional inflatable bed)… dog treats. I provide snacks, drinks, bread, eggs, and seasonal fruit upon your arrival, and am also happy to pick up specific items you may want. There is also coffee, tea, and coca, mix for hot drinks.
The 50” T.V. with sound bar has basic cable, Netflix, Hulu plus, and Amazon. There is also a DVD and VCR player if you care to bring your own tapes. I know I can’t live without my computer, and I wouldn’t expect you to live without yours either, so WiFi is included. There is also a nice stereo in the living room with CD, cassette and AM/FM. I didn’t think the CD part worked, but one of the guests said it did… I keep forgetting to test it… so it might. But the FM/cassette is great for sure!
The area is well-lit at night, and there are tiki torches you can also light if there is little to no breeze.
Your large covered deck looks out onto the digging grounds for my dachshunds. My hope is that someday they will actually catch a gopher! The garden is also here and guests may helps themselves to whatever is ripe.
Competing for your attention will be Charlie, Mem (short for Agamemnon), and Obi-Wan. They are particularly fond of the treats in the cottage. Feed them, they’re yours!
If you are bringing a dog (25 lbs or less only), we will work out a system to have yours out and mine in and visa versa. This works well, and during the week mine are used to their outdoor kennel which is where they stay. If you have to leave your dog in the cottage please crate your dog and limit your time away to no more than 4 hours. Also, Chico has fleas, so make sure your dog has been treated for fleas before arrival. If you forget, I have extra - please notify me and we will get him/her treated.
The heart of Chico is our downtown and it is a mere 5 minutes drive from the Cottage (exactly one-mile). Chico State is also very close and is easier to visit by foot or by bike. The area where I live fronts Big Chico Creek and is a haven for walking, jogging, and biking.
Sometimes we’re able to accommodate an early check in request, or delayed departure. Please check with us the day before your stay to check if this is available.
Thank you for taking the time to read this rather lengthy description…peace, love, and wiener dogs,
Darcy & Steve
