Family Vacation June 2024
My husband, 1 year old daughter, and I stayed at the Peace & Quiet Cabin for 4 nights. We absolutely loved the coziness of the cabin and being off the beaten path tucked into the National Forest. We saw many elk around the cabin as well as a black bear (this is what we hoped to see). Coming from the South Texas heat we thoroughly enjoyed the cool temps under the massive pine trees. We will definitely return to this cabin in the years to come. Kelly was an amazing host who kept in contact with me and made sure we had everything we needed. By the far the best experience we have had with a VRBO host/rental property. 10/10 recommended staying at the peace & quiet cabin.

Great secluded property!
Perfectly getaway spot. It is extremely quiet and secluded. We loved the real cabin feel yet it has all the amenities we could want. An added plus is NO TV! There was very high speed Internet if you need it as well. Will stay again for sure!

Great place to stay in the Cloudcroft area. Far enough out for the solitude, close enough to points of interest in every direction. Will be back for sure.

Cabin Getaway
Darling little cabin tucked in the woods! Stayed for a long weekend and were able to shop, eat, hike and explore nearby White Sands very easily. Cloudcroft is a tiny little town that’s great for small exploration (definitely check out Noisy Water Winery.. great wine and kind staff) but Alamogordo is within 30min and has all your major shopping/pharmacy/grocery needs. House was stocked well and very clean inside. Note that an SUV or tough little sedan is ideal for getting up the steep and slightly muddy street leading to the house…and the house is further up than your map will lead you to. Kelly was easy to communicate with and was helpful start to end of the trip.

Coziness in the Woods
My husband and I had a wonderful stay in this cozy little cabin. Not only is there a hiking trailhead about 50 feet away, but there are many other trailheads that are not far from this location (driving distance). We liked being surrounded by pine trees and enjoyed the quiet. We hope to be back!

Quiet like we wanted
Just what we wanted in a cabin. So quiet and peaceful. Perfect for couples or small families 2 kids or less. Kelly put a Christmas tree in which was perfect for putting our kids presents under. So close to a hiking trail! The only thing I could say is maybe add a sign on a tree stating the cabins name with an arrow pointing. If we would have arrived after dark we would not have been able to find it. I was able to recognize the cabin from pictures once we pulled up far enough. I would definitely stay again though :)

Cost Cabin
The cabin was very nice and cozy for our family. It was next to some nice hiking trails. Our kids and dogs absolutely loved it!. It was kind of difficult for us to find (it’s not exactly where gps says and the directions were not exact) as we arrived at night. I pulled a trailer to the cabin for a hunt and the road was very steep and icy. I would highly recommend you have 4-wheel drive. When we first arrived, the cabin smelled strongly of mothballs. You will not get cell service and there is no WiFi. The sheets didn’t seem clean which was ok for me since I always bring our own sheets anyways. There were crumbs inside of the fridge and some dried food splattered on the cabinets. Nothing a little wipe down couldn’t fix! Overall the cabin, location and experience was lovely. I’d stay again and recommend it to family and friends when they make their way up to cloudcroft.

Unbelievably quiet, peaceful, beautiful, just perfect
This place is a little hard to get to, but so very worth it!! The cabin has everything you need and a few hidden surprises that kept us entertained and comfortable. Breathtaking views around the area, hiking trails galore, village has several fun shops, and the people are incredibly helpful and friendly! We are already planning our return trip to this hidden gem of a cabin.

A quiet walk in the woods
The best part about this wonderful property (I have to confess) is the location! The Chippeway Trail (just footsteps away) and the serene mountain landscape set the stage for a fantastic weekend. The location is something that money just can't buy. Ok, so let's talk about the things that the host CAN control. Kelly's hospitality was delightful and made us feel pampered! :-) We arrived late in the afternoon, after winding our way through the neighborhood, to find fresh chile bread from the local bakery, a cute card, and a bottle of wine. Such a perfect welcome. The cabin is small, but cozy, and perfectly equipped with everything we needed. Internet access would have bene nice (and I understand it is coming soon), but frankly the time offline was just what we needed. We found the cabin stayed nice and toasty warm at night, and gave us a very peaceful and restful stay. We hiked on Saturday morning (5 miles) and never encountered another person. When we got tired, we drove 5 miles to Cloudcroft to explore the town. There are three beds in the cabin -- a full sized bed and two twins. We did not try the twins, but the full sized was a bit more firm than we had hoped, and not as comfy, but that was the only thing that we saw that could be improved on. The cabin was very clean, and nicely stocked with dishes, linens, and everything to make our stay perfect. Thanks to Kelly for being a tremendous host!

A short trip
Once you’ve turned off the highway, stay to the left at the first fork in the road and you’ll find the cabin quickly. It’s a sweet little gem, tucked into the trees with a large and open lot across the road that is perfect for kids to play, grilling and stargazing. Heading down to the cabin the stairs are a bit steep, so watch your step and mind the gap. To the right of the front door is a small seating area where you can watch warblers, woodpeckers, jays and a hawk or two. You’ll find a cute greeter on the porch. Opening the door into a beautifully maintained and decorated space, you find everything you might need and then some more. Search the drawers in the kitchen to cook a meal or make cookies. The bathroom is quite suitable with a walk-in shower and lots of extra towels. There is an electric fireplace in the living area, that is able to heat the whole cabin and kept us warm without needing to use the space heaters. A bit of a surprise is a boat ladder leading up to the bed spaces. If you’re not used to ladders this could be a bit scary, so be prepared for that. The bed spaces in the loft are separated by a catwalk. The beds have plenty of pillows and an assortment of blankets to build your nest to warm you and help you sleep. Little extras are set out on the nightstands and the views are high up in the trees. The cabin is unplugged. There is no cell service or tv or internet. Yet. The host is friendly and does an amazing job maintaining this clean, airy cabin.
