PLEASE TAKE NOTE: This is a working ranch, and there will be ranching activities taking place throughout the day. IMPORTANT: Please continue reading the following descriptions.
The space
If you are considering a stay with us, there are a few things to consider:
The cabin is on our property and the yard is shared. This is a working ranch, there will be work taking place, sometimes it happens early and on weekends.
We have dogs, cats, cows, chickens and horses on the property, but we just cannot have you bring your own pets. We have allowed this in the past, but it has resulted in too many problems for our own animals and livestock. I have even had animals hurt and killed by guests "good dogs". If you do end up bringing a pet, we won't be able to accommodate you. We appreciate your understanding and attention to this.
We are in the country here, and there are bugs, livestock and other wildlife. If you have allergies or aversions to these kinds of things, please know that this may not be an ideal place for you to visit.
THERE IS NO AC IN THE HOUSE. Please read that again. The temperature can be regulated by opening windows in the evenings and keeping them closed during the days. It can get quite warm upstairs in the summer months.
There is only ONE bathroom, I know this is in the description, but apparently it bears repeating.
There is an oven, it is a small countertop oven. You can fit a chicken, but probably not potatoes at the same time...
NO SMOKING ON THE PROPERTY, not just in the house and this is non negotiable. The fire danger is just too high. Massive Extra cleaning fee will be charged if smoking occurs. If you are a smoker and you cannot refrain while you are here, this might not be a good fit for you.
Guest access
We have lots of open field area, but we have livestock in different areas at different times. We will let you know where they are, but it is very important that you don't go into the areas where our animals are. They can get scared and act aggressive towards people they don't know, we don't want anyone to get hurt. We have wild animals here including mountain lions and bears, it is very important to be aware when/if you go hiking/walking.
Other things to note
Trash: PLEASE do not put trash or any food outside. This attracts all kinds of trouble, cats, dogs, skunks, raccoons, bears. We do not want to invite these to come over. It can end up in unnecessary tragedy for the wildlife, my livestock or pets.
There will be a very cute and charming black and white dog that greets you, he will ask (very insistently) that you to throw a ball or stick for him. Please let him know that you just can't do it. He has an injured leg, ant the extra work of chasing after these things will make him very sore and sets back his healing. We appreciate your attention and cooperation on this.
