Farmhouse Cottage Sleeps 2 (1 en-suite Bedroom)

Formerly part of the farmhouse, this cottage was previously a farm worker's dwelling in the 18th century. It has been sympathetically converted back into a separate cottage and has the benefit of an oak beamed ceiling and an open fireplace. The living area has a 40" television, a settee and an electric reclining chair and a quality carpet. A dining table and chairs completes the living space. The cottage is warm and cosy with central heating. The large bedroom has a lovely view over farm land towards Bosley Cloud (hill) which is the local landmark. The bed can be either a luxurious queen-sized bed or alternatively converted into twin single beds. An inbuilt wardrobe, oak drawers, oak bedside cabinets and period dressing table completes the room. Quality bedding and towels are provided. The bathroom has a large shower, wc, wash basin and heated towel rail. A velux window creates a light and airy bathroom. The cottage is set on a working sheep and beef farm surrounded by farm land, streams and the River Dane. Guests are welcome to walk around the farmland, paddle in the streams, have picnics and fish in the river - as well as enjoying lambs, calves and wildlife in the farm fields. The Cottages are conveniently located on the A54 Congleton to Buxton road and are only 15 minutes drive away from the pretty market towns of Macclesfield, Congleton and Leek and the spa town of Buxton. The cottage is located on the borders of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire and is therefore conveniently located to visit the delights of all three counties. It is also conveniently positioned for visits to the Roman City of Chester with its zoo and race course, and vibrant cities of Manchester and Liverpool. Beautiful countryside and scenery is all around and for the walker, then Bosley Cloud, Macclesfield Forest, Teggs Nose, the Roaches and Hanging Stone are a must. Sailing, fishing, golfing, horse riding, mountain biking & cycling are all nearby as are a wealth of National Trust properties, historic houses and fabulous gardens. Jodrell Bank with its Lovell telescope and arbortoreum is close by and the Alton Towers theme park is also within easy reach. The Peak District with it's lovely villages, scenery and historic houses is also close by. Buxton with its glorious architecture, pavilion gardens and Opera House is a 'must see' as is the grand Chatsworth House known as the 'Queen of the Peaks' is approximately one hours drive away which is an absolute 'must see' as the 'Queen of the Peaks'. There is so much to see and do in this area - to meet everyone's interests and expectations. Our aim is for you to have a wonderful stay.

Another great stay
This was our second visit to this delightful cottage. It is very well equipped, good quality saucepans, knives etc in the kitchen. A very comfortable bed, large ensuite shower and an amazing view from the bedroom window. Just up the road there is a lovely walk by the canal.

Just what the Doctor Ordered
Me and My Partner wanted to spend the New Year (Last Minute) somewhere quieter than usual fancying lots of near by scenic walks and things todo. This is exactly what we got, the cottage was immaculate and situated not too far from the town to pop to shops, pubs and amenities but also short walking distance into various landscapes. Considering the location is on the farm you could hear a pin drop. Bed was incredibly comfy and plenty big enough. Really enjoyed the stay and looking to rebook later in the year , Many Thanks to Brenda and her Family

Cottage was charming, comfortable, clean and well equipped. However, the location was so bad that we never went out in the evening for fear of not finding the cottage in the dark when we came back.

Pleasant cottage, friendly host, beautiful area
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-day short break at Colley Farm Cottages. Brenda, the host, was very friendly and welcoming and the cottage was clean and comfortable. The location is great for walking and there are two National Trust properties nearby that are well worth visiting. The only downside from our point of view was a bit of traffic noise from the A54, which runs past the cottages.

Great little cottage
A very comfortable place to stay and well equipped except for a deeper pan suitable for a stir fry, preferably with a lid. We hope to return as we loved the location, near enough to visit family in Manchester but in lovely countryside.

Peaceful home from home
It's a cute and comfortable cottage with lots of facilities provided. I was working remotely, and the wifi was fine. As advised in a previous review, I asked for fuel beforehand, and it was provided for us. We were greeted at the apartment on a rainy day, with a lit fire - so lovely! There are nice pubs and museums in nearby Congleton and Leek. Also lovely walks a short drive away, but there's nowhere to walk to from the cottage as a main road runs outside with no pavement so caution needed! I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Brenda!

Cosy farm cottage for two
This is a lovely little cottage sympathetically converted from part of an old farm building. The kitchen area is compact but very well equipped and the adjacent seating/dining area is comfortable, with an electric fire for extra heating when needed (or, we understand, a coal fire available if requested in advance). The upstairs bedroom and bathroom have ample space and good headroom, there was plenty of storage space and we loved the superking bed. We couldn't get a phone signal, but there is excellent broadband. As others have said, there is quite a lot of traffic going past during the day, but this is hardly noticeable when the windows are closed. The location is excellent to visit the northern parts of the Peak District and it's also very close to Biddulph Grange (NT).

Nice part of the world!
Enjoyed our stay in a part of the peak district we had not visited before. Brenda gave us a lot of local information which we found really useful. The road that the cottage is on is a little busy at times and given we had the windows open during the warm weather, the road noise was noticeable.

Lovely cottage with nice atmosphere. Spotless throughout. King size bed which is very comfortable. Road noise during the day but dies away at night. Fully equipped with all you could need for a break. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

Good for walks
Very nice cottage, with everything you could need. The kitchen was very well equipped. A very big bed - two large singles put together - which was extremely comfortable. We were there visiting family nearby but also had time for walking, and there are lots of really lovely walks within a few miles. We had a walk round the farm fields too which was very nice. The only drawback for us was the traffic noise from the busy road, otherwise I'd give it five stars.
