Watch the waves breaking below on the Roche beach from your breakfast table, from the pool (and jacuzzi), or from the comfort of your sunbed on the lawn. Or on a stormy night, watch the lights of the ships making their way in and out of The Strait of Gibraltar from the comfort of one of the sitting room’s deep white sofas. Enebros y Mar is the perfect beachfront property for couples and small groups. Both stylish and practical, it is one of the best properties in the area.
You get a glimpse of the Atlantic as you come through the garden gate; but it is just a glimpse, that is until you walk through the front door and the full splendour of the property’s location becomes apparent. In front of you, a large living area (hall, sitting room, and dining room) opens up, with vast sliding glass doors down each side providing access to the large L-shaped terrace, thoughtfully designed to provide protection from the two local winds. Natural elements abound: outside it is sea, sandstone cliffs, palms, and the locally-protected giant junipers; and inside it is marble floors, weathered wood, kilim cushions and sisal rugs. Simple raw materials beautifully combined.
Built perpendicular to the beach, the living area gets the views and takes up the whole of one end of the house, with the bedrooms and bathrooms behind. There are tables and space for eating both inside and out, and there are plenty of options when it comes to shade, half shade and full sun. The kitchen sits just behind the dining area, and further back are the four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The main bedroom has its bathroom ensuite, there are two twin bedrooms that share the second bathroom, and then there is a small single room with another nice shower room opposite. This gives the house a capacity of seven. There is a bedroom on the first floor but this is not open for guests.
The well-kept garden is full of palms, junipers, and giant strelitzias. And it has been developed in such a way that you hardly notice the neighbours on either side. The view is pure Atlantic with the dunes and beach below. A garden gate leads to a simple set of steps cut into the low sandstone cliffs, and you can be in the water in less than a minute (depending on your agility!)
A walk of about 400m will take us to the local shop, pharmacy, a couple of bars and restaurants, and childrens’ playground. Roche also has its own tennis and padel courts and five-a-side football pitches. In the summer months, there are several beach bars/restaurants to choose from within walking distance, some of which are now staying open all year. A 5-minute drive will then provide you with a far larger selection of both bars and restaurants. The area offers an endless list of activities and if you book with us, we provide you with detailed information on all our recommendations, details on local amenities, and our up-to-date guide to the best of everything! You could spend a wonderful holiday here without a car, and just hire bikes; but, assuming you will have a car, it’s 15 minutes to Conil, 20 minutes to the hill-top village of Vejer-de-la-Frontera, 30 minutes to Cadiz, 40 minutes to Tarifa and Jerez, and 90 minutes to Seville, all of which are well worth visiting.
