Location is an important consideration when selecting a beach house for a Far North stay. Everyone has a wish-list….A bit of elevation above the beach, stairs down to the sand and sea, huge entertaining deck with shade would be nice.
Seapoint is a character laden, North facing, charming, much loved, clean, family holiday house that has had a birthday. Re-appointed furnishings and décor. New in 2020, a large, part covered deck that reaches out towards the bay, feels like being on the bridge of a ship. At the edge of the clipped front lawn are a private flight of steps that run down to the beach.
Great lay-out for an extended or 2 family stay. Living downstairs, sleeping upstairs. 2 large bedrooms have picture windows featuring the bay. In both rooms, a bed for 2 and in the corner a single bed with a roll out trundler bed beneath. In the 3rd bedroom, bunk-beds for 2. For those that would struggle with the steepish flight of internal stairs, there are options, mention this when booking. The kitchen is modelled after the galley of an ocean cruising yacht. There’s only room for 1 or 2 but surround benches, a serving bar and having everything within arms reach seems to be a chef’s delight.
A pair of kayaks and life-jackets for guests’ use. Large modern BBQ, off-street parking, new heatpump. Freshly laundered crisp cotton hotel grade linen is included. Enjoy a drink on the deck (bring Nespresso capsules) and through a gap in the Pohutukawa, keep an eye on those making sandcastles, playing cricket, writing messages to you in the sand or swimming down on the beach.
Coopers Beach is a favourite destination for people the world over for good reason. It is one of the sheltered beaches within the greater Doubtless Bay and has next to no rips or pounding waves; a safe family swimming beach. Shellfish can be dug for on the low tide and fish caught from the kayaks on any tide (bring tackle). The kilometre of Coopers Beach has 200 year old Pohutukawa overhanging the sand; all day dappled or full ‘on the beach’ shade.
Seapoint is ideally located to enjoy the many handy Far North attractions and those further afield. Historic Mangonui Village, Karikari Peninsula, Ahipara, drive the 8 kms of sand on Tokerau Beach if you’re so inclined. Day trips to Cape Reinga, Bay of Islands, Hokianga or say “Hi” to Tane Mahuta. He is over 2000 years old, a seedling when Jesus was around.
You can feel the laughter and good times from summers past in the walls of Seapoint. The large new deck has massively enhanced this already beaut beach-front property. If the thought of creating a holiday that you talk about fondly for decades to come appeals; Seapoint is a jolly good start.
