The Space:
4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Bathrooms, 6 Flat Screen TV’s and 1 Unbelievable Staircase
Imagine a place in which you feel instantly at ease, a space with so many unique features that each glance reveals another artistic discovery.
This is Oneida Lodge North (OLN) at ArrowHead Pointe on Otsego Lake.
With rugged and distinctive architectural lines and a straightforward interior design, OLN offers a level of luxury and comfort not found elsewhere in the area. The focal point of this 3,200 square foot lodge is a masterfully designed, 3-story log staircase that winds around an ancient white pine tree. “Rooted” in the natural slate flooring of the Lake Level wet bar area, this hand-polished behemoth rises through the Main and Upper Levels and tops out 42-feet above; up against a bank of 4 electronically controlled sky lights. All the while, treads of half-logs balanced on a single spiral beam rotate up the 48″ diameter trunk, protected by railings constructed from cedar and black birch twigs. The equally impressive floor to ceiling mirror reflects the art-turned-staircase, as well as the abundant natural light from the skylights above.
Stepping back from the stair railing, guests will appreciate the wide-open floor plan of the Main Level and take in the sweeping view of Otsego Lake through multiple sets of French Doors. A secondary focal point is the chef’s kitchen, which was custom designed and built by a local Amish cabinetmaker from character cherry wood with maple details. Copper sinks and faucets, muted earth-tone granite counters, along with SubZero, Wolf and Azko appliances and an array of unusual touches add to the ambiance of the cathedral ceilinged space.
The Great Room houses a flat screen TV in front of a very comfortable and large seating arrangement. Nestled in the corner and flanked by 15-foot long walls of glass is the solid slab, mahogany dining table. Hanging above from a beam is a handcrafted stained-glass light of just-the-right-colors providing a soft glow against the naturally colored Douglas fir logs. Another leather sofa and pair of red leather chairs are placed about the wood-burning fireplace and provide an ideal space to read or simply catch a few winks.
The entire Upper Level has vaulted, wainscoted ceilings and showcases the hand peeled, post and beam frame. Here are two welcoming bedrooms…a king and a queen, both with walk-in closets and lake view balconies from which the ducks and geese can be heard making their riot, along with the soothing sounds of waves lapping at the beach. Both bedrooms have flat screen TV’s and pairs of electronic skylights with screens and shades.
Down the hall and past the tree, step into the spa-like bathroom and indulge yourself in the deep, jetted soaking tub. The large shower area features 2 shower heads and a series of adjustable body spays; very relaxing!
On the Lake Level, the lucky guests staying here will discover two beautifully furnished queen bedroom suites; one features a marble walled bathroom and the other a granite bathroom, both with AHP Signature pedestal sinks and showers with polished pebble floors. And both of these bedrooms have flat screens tv’s as well.
Next to the trunk of the huge tree is a wet bar and wine fridge. And nearby, the Family Room (with pullout queen sleeper with memory foam mattress) has lots of seating in front of yet another flat screen TV. Outside the French doors is a 30-foot long bluestone patio with a walkway that lead visitors down to the lake and The Boathouse.
Come on in and take a self-guided, fully immersive, 3D 360° Tour right now!
The Boathouse is a stunning 2-story log structure; it hugs the lake and provides exceptional spaces for relaxation, reading, gazing at the lake and for gathering with friends as the lake reflects the colors of the sky. It serves as the clubhouse for the enclave. Authentic folk art and antique and hand crafted furniture graces the Main Floor while an 80-year old birch bark canoe hangs suspended under a 12-foot long clear span skylight. In the adjacent side rooms, the wooden frame of a vintage kayak and an old canoe are tucked into the massive log rafters of wide-open, vaulted ceilings. 3 fireplaces and a pair of bathrooms are conveniently provided. Numerous French sliders open onto a wrap-around covered deck over-hanging the waters of Otsego; so clear you can watch the trout swim by!
Down the log spiral stairs and around the “coat-tree” (with it’s authentic, colorful Navajo style coats hanging from the branches) to the Lake Level. A specially designed walk-behind birch bark bar is ideal for entertaining friends; twig bar stools and foosball table are just inside a wall of glass looking right out at the lake. Step through the French doors to the lakefront walkway, which connects the beach area to the boat dock.
Adjacent to The Boathouse is the heated pool (open May 15th- October 15th); raised up from the lake, its bluestone patio is a perfect place to bask in the sunshine and to watch boaters pass by. The landscape is mature, lush and dense with native trees, plantings and massive boulder retaining walls. Sitting on its own promontory a few feet from the edge of the lake is the gazebo. Constructed in British Columbia of massive cedar flared posts, trimmed out with birch details and lighted with a handmade chandelier, there is no better vantage point for lake gazing.
ArrowHead Pointe is a vacation retreat of 5 homes for discriminating families looking for the perfect home and location, on the area’s most sought after lake, Otsego Lake. Bring your boat or rent one and keep it at our dock; 2 restaurants can be reached by boat and our lake is exceptionally clean and very much underutilized.
Fishing, swimming, sailing, kayaking and canoeing, tubing and skiing; all right from our beachfront.
