Wonderful Stay in Corciano
My wife and I spent 7 days (Oct.25-Nov.1,2024) in Corciano at the Rock House. It was fabulous. Corciano and the house are gems. Corciano has all the charm of an ancient hilltop village without being overrun with other tourists and endless stores/shops. We felt immersed in a little true Italian community. It was the most relaxing week of our 3.5 week trip. Host Rosella has thoughtfully decorated the House, the kitchen was great, the lighting throughout was superb and the bedroom was very comfortable .. we slept great all week. An extra bonus was neighbor Theresa who cooked for us 4 of our 7 nights. She made us some great home cooked meals with fresh ingredients from her garden. We asked if she could prepare some seafood one night and we ended up with an amazing feast from the sea that was enough for two nights. She was also very adept at accommodating my Gluten free needs. We also had dinner one night at Locanda San Michele just down the street - they specialize in seafood. When gazing at the entrance, you'd never know that there was such a fine restaurant inside. I found that throughout Italy. The smallest hole in the wall may be hiding a real culinary treasure. I must give a shout out to the Orange Cafe as well. It's a quirky little gathering spot for locals and visitors to grab a drink. It has a fun vibe. We had a car and driving up and parking at the Rock House is modestly challenging. The hilltop ring road is a little tight but manageable.

A lovely place to stay
Rosella was a great host. Location in Corciano was great for our daytime sorties into Umbria. Pretty vilage in a nicely restored and decorated house. These rentals can be sterile, but it was like we were living in someone's home - and we had Annie lennox to look over us. Teresa across the road cooks some wonderful Umbrian food.

Good base to explore Umbria and surrounding areas. Very comfortable house with attentive host. Once we got used to parking the car no problem. While we enjoyed walking the area most things you want to see or experience require travel by car.

Perfecto!
This property was perfect for us. We actually chose Corciano among other small (non-touristy) hill towns in Umbria because of this VRBO listing. It is just as delightful as the description and photos. It is its own property, not attached to any other occupied unit and on the main street that circles the small town. The property is so comfortable with a very useful kitchen (we cooked many meals during our 10-day stay), a lovely patio where we often had breakfast and/or lunch. A comfortable living room and table/chairs. A half-bath downstairs and upstairs the bedrooms (one queen, one single) and a full bath with shower. Everything worked perfectly. Rosella is a lovely and helpful host. Theresa, whom others have mentioned, is so nice to have across the street. She made us dinner (asparagus risotto and a fabulous salad, Umbrian bread and biscotti) and sold us many fresh vegetables from her garden. They also offer some transportation services and drove us to and from the train station in Ellera. Corciano is very small so it won't suit everyone. It did suit us very well because we wanted to begin our month in Italy with a quiet spot. There is the wonderful Orange Caffe, with Sara as owner which serves simple snacks, great drinks and cafe. A gelateria, two restaurants, a wine bar that also has substantial and nice small plates and a bar with small plates. There is a small grocery with a very friendly owner that was substantial for our meals at home. We loved it!

Perfect place in a perfect location
We enjoyed our time at this beautiful stone house. Rosella was an excellent host and we would definitely return. Our flight was delayed so we arrived later but Rosella mentioned (as have others in the reviews) that her neighbour Teresa could prepare a meal for us. It was amazing! Homemade pasta and bread, tasty salad, vegetables and fruit all from her garden! She finished with “la crostata” a lovely regional dessert. We loved it! We asked her to prepare a meal for two additional nights. The price was cheaper than a meal at a restaurant. We paired it with a lovely local wine that Rosella gifted us upon our arrival. Grazie! In the mornings I would prepare espresso and we would sit and enjoy the view of the valley in total privacy. Corciano is situated in the perfect location that is central to all main Umbrian cities which we visited by car. We also ventured out to Cortona in Tuscany. From the house it’s a short walk to the piazza where we enjoyed a cappuccino after church and a gelato after an evening stroll. We also dined at a lovely restaurant about four minutes from the house. A memorable stay that we hope to revisit again. Thank you Rosella for your hospitality. Grazie da Claudio e Maria

What a wonderful holiday!
We stayed here for two weeks. The contact with Rosella was always very nice and friendly during that time and the meal that Teresa prepared for us on the fist day was excellent! The house and garden are just right for two adults and their dogs. The house stays cool during the day, the garden gets a lot of sunshine and is very private. We had lovely weather and spent a lot of time outside. The house is located in the center of the old village. You don't need to go to a gym, bring your walking shoes, there's a lot of stairs to overcome. Go out and have a drink at the Orange Bar or eat some icecream on the village square. It's a beautiful place, green and quiet. There is a lot to see in the surrounding area as well. We have become very fond of Umbria and we plan to go back there sometime.

Unforgettable time in Corciano, Umbtia
This comfortable and tastefully decorated Home with well equipped kitchen & nicely done bathrooms, and gorgeous outdoors - 3 terraces with the breathtaking view situated in the stone walls of the small medieval town and in close distance for travelling to many attractive locations of Umbria and Tuscany made it the best choice for us. Would love to come back and would highly recommend the place to our friends ! Thank you to the owners who were extremely helpful and always "easy to reach"! The important part of our enjoyable stay were the evening meals prepared by our neighbor Teresa ! Her multi-course Dinners were amazing! Just to mention her hand made tortellini and all kinds of pasta , fresh meets and veggies and desserts! What is travelling without the taste of the local cuisine?! Teresa's meals were recommended by the owners of the house and we give her all 5 STARS!

Wonderful stay in Corciano
Have just returned from 9 days in Corciano staying in this lovely villa. We arranged to meet our host, Rosella upon entering the village and she directed us through the narrow streets to the house. (If you are hiring a car we suggest a small one as many of the medieval villages like Corciano have very narrow winding roads.) The house is on the outer edge of the village with views across the valley. It is very well equipped and very comfortable for a couple. We enjoyed breakfast on the sunny patio and were grateful that it was shaded during the afternoon when the sun was at its highest. Corciano is a great base from which to explore this part of Umbria particularly Assissi & Perugia. Following previous guests' reviews we asked our neighbour Theresa to cook an evening meal for us and can thoroughly recommend her. All the fresh ingredients come from her own garden. She is a fantastic cook and the taste, variety and quantity of the dishes are amazing. We were so delighted we booked her for another two meals during our stay. She speaks very little English but is fluent in French ( if that helps !). Rosella was quick to respond to any questions and couldn't have been more helpful. Overall a stunning experience. Thank you Rosella, Massimo & Davide for a wonderful holiday. Clive & Angie Sept 2019

A lovely hill top town with beautiful veiws
We have enjoyed our 2 weeks in Corciano. Pretty Umbrian town. Rosella was most helpful. We loved the little orange cafe and ate twice in il Convento restaurant 2 minutes walk from the house the ambiance is amazing. I would have give. 5* but agree with an earlier comment that the noise from quarry in the valley during the week spoils the tranquility a little and we could have done with a parasol for the table it was impossible to eat at it when the sun came round. But overall a lovely get away

An enchanting house
The Rock house surpassed all our expectations from the website. It is so tastefully furnished and decorated with books , lovely vases and 'objet d'art'. It was not only a house but a home. There was a beautiful terrace and gardens with choice to sit in the sun or shade. The kitchen was well equipped and Rosella introduced us toTeresa With her home grown produce which one could buy and whose culinary skills were wonderful. With a day's notice she will cook you a 3 course meal and deliver it Rock House is in a good position for visiting places e.g. quite close to Perugia, Assisi,Spello, Gubbio, and Lake Trasimeno which has some very picturesque villages along its shore. Further afield there are Siena and Florence. We had a wonderful relaxing holiday. We would return. Thank you Rosella and the Quaglia family Marion & Hanns July 2019. London

This villa in in the heart of the country and a great place from which to make day trips. Rosella was great to work with, even when we locked ourselves out the first day. Her neighbor, Teresa, is an excellent chef. We were only sorry that we could have her dinner for one night.

Relaxing space inside and out!
Beautiful little hilltop town, easy to get about, house is convenient to restaurant, bar, coffee bar. The home had everything you need places outside to relax, equipped kitchen if you like to cook at home? Stone home has been renovated but still remains in character. Rosetta met us and no problems, introduced to Theresa who will cook traditional Umbrian dinners with produce from her garden. We indulged twice in the week as it so good and easy to come home to after a day of touring the area. Thank you for a very special holiday and warm memories.

The property was as advertised. A charming cottage, well equipped and comfortable. Would recommend
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this property, situated in a lovely old town. The facilities in the town, such as two excellent restaurants, a post office, cafes etc were quite unexpected. Rosella is a wonderful host, very attentive and helpful. Theresa, the neighbor who cooks on demand, is also a great bonus. I would have appreciated, however, a folder with instructions and information about the property and surrounding area. This has been a feature in many other properties where we have stayed and has always been helpful. The only downside of our stay was the noise from the quarry at the bottom of the hill, for up to 9 hours per day. We expected a quiet country stay, but perhaps this is not a realistic expectation in contemporary Italy, where the pressure of population means high density living.

Everything we had hoped for
This house was amazing, from the location, to the charm, and even the community. If you’re blessed with the incredible opportunity to meet the neighbor, Theresa, and have her cook for you- absolutely take it! What a once in a lifetime opportunity to eat like the locals do. And it doesn’t hurt that she’s an excellent chef. This is a very old house so the amenities are somewhat limited, but if gorgeous scenery and a truly amazing opportunity to explore central Italy away from the crowds is how you like to vacation, then this is your place!. You won’t regret it!

Lovely Gite in the Umbrian Hills
This gite is located in the Umbrian hill town of Corciano just outside of the city of Perugia. Many of the hill towns we visited during our stay were only a short drive away from this accommodation. A truly delightful place to stay in Umbria, both the house and gardens were lovely. Rosella was a wonderful host and checked in with us regularly to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. We spent a week here but would stay two weeks next time we visit.

Quiet, Beautiful, Interesting Base
The property looks exactly as on the photos. It has a lot of character both inside and out in the garden or on the stone patio area. There is a reasonably well equipped kitchen with a nice living room area overlooked by a picture of Annie Lennox, while upstairs apart from the bedroom and shower room, there is also a study plus an area with a washing machine. The garden gets plenty of sunshine throughout the day and has three levels including the patio with fabulous views. It is a perfect base for visiting the mediaeval hilltop towns with their beautiful churches. Perugia, Assissi, Spoleto, Orvieto and Gubbio, just to mention a few are all worth a visit. Corciano itself is an interesting mediaeval town with it's own castle and some bars looking out across the valley plus a fantastic restaurant called 'Il Convento'. We cooked many lovely meals in our ten days using local produce, some from a neighbour and some from the local supermarkets. We also had a stunning meal cooked for us by Rosella and Massimo's neighbour Theresa using her own home grown produce - it was better than the restaurant! Nothing was too much trouble for Rosella and she came straight over if neededand always had a nice smile.A very sweet lady and a very lovely cottage to holiday in. We hope to visit again in the future!

Charming & Comfortable
We enjoyed our time in this charming and comfortable home with a lovely garden. It was a perfect spot to relax and a great home base from which to explore Umbrian hill towns, wine, olive oil, ceramics, history, and art. The only slight negative was the slow wireless internet service. Rosella was a very gracious host. We highly recommend this home and hope to come back some day!
