Book your Coronado holiday
Holidays To Coronado
There's a reason why Coronado, California, means crowned one. It's the cream of the crop, the best of the best, boasting three world-class resorts, a ton of upscale eating establishments, and a beach regarded as among America's best by both The Travel Channel and Florida International University.
No wonder Coronado holiday packages are popular! It's even the place where the elite United States Navy SEALs train. (The soldiers, not the flippered animals that swim in the ocean.) But despite the luxury, Coronado holidays don't have to break the bank—especially not when you book through Wotif!
Things to Do in Coronado
First things first: sink your toes into the sand. Coronado has about 11 km of beaches, all of which have lifeguards on duty. Rent a jet ski or sailboat, or just go for a walk along the shoreline. With 11 U.S. presidents as one-time guests and an honoured place in Marilyn Monroe's 1959 movie Some Like It Hot, the nearby Hotel del Coronado has a reputation as polished as the burnished wood inside it.
Families with children should definitely check out the Coronado Children's Library and its Wizard of Oz exhibit. (L. Frank Baum wrote part of the famous novel while living in town.) Although Coronado is small enough to get around on foot, it's easy to rent a car to sneak in a bit of a San Diego holiday. "America's Finest City" is only 15 minutes away by car, and Coronado packages would be woefully incomplete without a visit to the USS Midway Museum there. Forget about stuffy docents and roped-off areas the Midway is a giant decommissioned aircraft carrier with more than two dozen restored planes and a flight simulator.
Shopping, Dining & Nightlife
What’s that? You want souvenirs? Take advantage of our Coronado deals so you’ll have plenty of money left over to indulge your inner shopaholic. Orange Avenue has everything from clothiers and bookshops to designer boutiques and high-end jewellers. The shops at Ferry Landing also offer casual wear, hand-rolled cigars, a farmers market and art galleries.
You enjoyed the farmers market, but now it's closed. Easy enough. Downtown provides the greatest assortment of eateries, including little cafes and coffee shops for breakfast and lunch, fine French cuisine and Asian fusion for a posh night on the town, and Mexican grills and American pubs for when you want something a little less formal. Beachfront areas have mostly casual open-air dining, while Ferry Landing features sweet treats such as ice cream and cupcakes.
Most restaurants in Coronado also offer drinks, but there are plenty of places dedicated solely to the nightlife. Once again, start with Orange Avenue where you'll find both wine bars, dive bars and Irish pubs, as well as local beers produced by the Coronado Brewing Company.
