Beautiful, luxuriously appointed, south facing 18th century house with large private heated pool (Heated May-Sept)and full size Pétanque court. 5 large bedrooms plus 1 downstairs bedroom and a further 2nd floor mezzanine with double bed + single, sleeps 15/16.
4 bathrooms/shower rooms (2 en-suite). Downstairs WC.
Huge 50m2 reception room with comfortable sofas/chairs Big 36m2 TV room with woodburner. 50'' flat screen tv and surround sound system.

Extremely well appointed kitchen with 2 full size ovens and separate 5 burner hob, dishwasher, fridgefreezer and large stainless steel topped workstation. Our stay at Robert’s house far exceeded our expectations. The house is truly beautiful and it was well equipped for our large party. The pool area was a welcome relief from the heat and the shaded area meant we could use it even at the hottest part of the day. There are many beautiful towns around but the house was so nice we found it hard to leave! Robert was a pleasure to deal with and he made a point of not being intrusive but was always available if we needed him. I would have no hesitation recommending this home and hope to visit again soon.

Beautiful country house, perfect holiday location.
The property is as beautiful as the listing shows. The area is peaceful and calm and Robert the host is so incredibly helpful when answering questions about the house or surronding area. Would definitely recommend to others, and book again for our next big family holiday. The house has a collection of activites for those days you do not want to leave the grounds and it worked well for our family group (toddler, teenager and oldies!) And of course theres the pool 🙂 Local area is beautiful, local people are very friendly. The birds are the loudest thing around the area - bliss!

Wonderful villa for our family trip
We stayed for a week at the villa, with a group made up of six adults and five children agreed between 4 and 8. The place was fab: really well equipped (thank goodness for somewhere that has a properly set up kitchen!) and loads of living space. As parents of small children we were super grateful for good blackout blinds in some rooms and shutters with curtains in others. Lots of bedding too. Lots of space to seat everyone while eating, both indoors and outside. And the kids’ Grandma made good use of the many DVDs in the evening! The pool was wonderful and the kids happily spent almost everyday there. We took our own inflatables but Robert had supplied pool towels, which was really helpful as we travelled by train so were packing light. There wasn’t a huge amount to do within walking distance but there was a nice little restaurant in the local village and bakeries within a 5 min drive. A hypermarket within 15 mins drive so we were able to self cater really easily. We took a couple of day trips out towards Cognac (there’s a great kids’ play area and splash park there) but it was so easy to stay at the house and mess around in the pool we really didn’t need to venture far 😊 Robert was incredibly helpful and easy to communicate with. We’d love to go back next year!

Perfect venue for our multiple family holiday
A really beautiful house, exceptionally well-appointed and maintained. The children in our group ages 8-13 were kept entertained with the pool and games room. Plenty of space for 3 families. Robert was a really excellent host, unobtrusive but very available and responsive. He kindly organised a local babysitter for us. Really lovely restaurant within walking distance and Michelin star restaurant within 30th street drive. Would highly recommend and would definitely return.

Everything You Need
This property was not just big enough for our large gathering of friends and family, but the kitchen was well equipped and there was loads of space for everyone to be entertained. There’s a great bakery nearby in Archiac (opposite a Carrefour) so we didn’t have to go too far for essentials and there was lots to see and do in the area. We recommend kayaking down the river to the north.

Lovely property with great host
We rented this property for our family of 8 adults and 5 children for a week in August 2022. The property was very nice and clean and had a great garden and secure pool area. Robert was a very accommodating host and I would highly recommend staying here.

Amazing property in beautiful hidden gem location
We are a large family (14 persons) and this is a contender for the best property we have holidayed in. The facilities of the house - space, garden, pool, games room, kitchen, etc, were excellent and catered to every age. The wildlife is amazing - birds including hoopoes, black kite, black redstart, swifts, swallows, etc. Butterflies and damselflies, bats and lizards, and red squirrel. Highlight may be the hummingbird hawk moth! It is quite a distance from the beach, but in the heat we were happy to make more use of the large pool.

Absolutely stunning
Robert was a great host, excellent communication throughout. The property itself is stunning and suited our family perfectly. The inside is very grand with lots of space and a great place to cool down. The bedrooms are large with excellent quality bedding. The pool area is amazing, very clean , tidy and secure. We had a five yr old and she couldn’t open the gate, a bonus when travelling with young children. The restaurant in the village was great fun and very welcoming. We will be returning next year!! Wonderful House
We had a wonderful week in this beautiful property. Clean and well maintained with lots of space for the 12 of us. The pool was lovely and kept the kids entertained! The owner, Robert, went above and beyond, answering our queries before our stay, cleaning the pool every morning and being on hand if there was anything we needed. We hope to return again soon!

A very special holiday location
We booked a 2 week stay at the end of August, some family time and then some time to unwind! This property ticked every box... it is absolutely gorgeous, clean, well maintained, beautifully furnished and very well equipped. Our hosts, who live in another property nearby, were wonderful, particularly Rob, who couldn't have been more helpful when needed but completely inconspicuous when not. We are looking forward to exploring more of the beautiful Charante region and will certainly be back to Petit Moulin .

Lovely, large house.
Really lovely house - perfect for a family gathering. We were a large group with a large age range. Was really well suited to us all. Very secure access to the pool reassured the parents of young children, the pool, table tennis, table football and pool table kept the teenagers busy and there were lots of lovely indoor and outdoor spots to relax. Great tranquil location but also not too far from cognac or Bordeaux in the car if you want to do some touring. Highly recommend.

Perfect setting for a glorious sunny, summer holiday with the family. Beyond all expectations!
The owners were the perfect hosts, with lots of thoughtful touches which absolutely made our visit! The place was spotlessly clean and provided everything we could possibly need. The beds were comfy, the rooms beautifully furnished and all situated in a quiet peaceful setting. The outdoor areas; pool, various dining spaces, games room and fireside den meant that there was little or no reason to leave. All agreed it was our best family holiday to date!

Lots of character and well designed rooms. Party of 7 with 4 dogs and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Robert and Philip were great hosts, available if needed but otherwise unobtrusive. Would definitely recommend this to others and we hope to come again sometime. Also, good value for money.

5 star venue for a family reunion - with on-site service to boot!
We had visited here on a recce last September, preparing for a family reunion this year and were most impressed. The property is in terrific condition, all as described in the listing. What tops this compared to other properties is the presence of the owners Phil and Rob in their adjoining but discrete property next door. We were arriving from all points of the globe and utilised Rob and Phil's offer on arrival of preparing a meal for us saving either risking delays or us having to cook on the first evening. A fabulous feast at a reasonable price was delivered saving much stress. Their attention to every detail and daily maintenance of the pool was most appreciated, removing the worry of other establishments that if anything goes wrong it will not be immediately rectified. Their helpful, yet unobtrusive presence and tips meant a most enjoyable week. Highly recommended, this is a terrific place to enjoy a good get together, with fully equipped kitchen for home catering, wonderful reception rooms with real character and tastefully furnished. Complete with grand piano as well as plenty of restaurants, supermarkets and boulangeries within short travel times. The Charente valley is an undiscovered haven for culture and water sports, un-touristy, certainly for the Brits who tend to congregate further south in the Dordogne. We loved Angouleme, Cognac, Jonzac, Saintes and the sea at Royan - don't miss it!

100% conforme aux attentes
La maison est comme décrite. De grands espaces a l'intérieur comme a l'extérieur. Exterieur bien entretenu, piscine claire et chauffee. Ce qui permet de s'adapter à la météo. Cuisine bien équipée (frigos petit pour 12 personnes), tres fonctionnelle. Un vrai bon moment !! Merci Robert !
