Chelito's Backpacker has three storeys where the 2nd and 3rd have private rooms incl. bath, On the ground floor, which has no roof, you have a couple of rooms with 2-6 beds (as you can see on the yellow building) and shared bathroom 5-10 meters away.
Like most places in the mountains of Arequipa, Cusco, Aguas Caliente (Machu Picchu Pueblo), Puno and so on, it gets quite cold at night (+10°C outdoors, and not much warmer indoors since there's no heating anywhere in Peru (not needed in Lima in summer, ie. Feb-March). But Chelito's has a small kitchen for everybody, with a gas stove and a modern fridge/freezer, so you can not only cook your own meals, but also boil water until 10:30PM why I recommend to bring a thermos flask to make your own tea, coffee or instant noodles. But they have two big (more than 1 l.) thermoses, and I borrowed one every night, after my smart travel water boiler went bust.
I was there 9 days in March 2024, and after a bus trip to Puno (Lake Titicaca, 3 days), and then another bus to La Paz, Bolivia, where I've been 5 days now, I'll take the 6AM bus to Cusco, where I'll be staying two more nigts before my LATAM flight to Lima and back home from there.
Friendly staff (some English is spoken, but you need to jnow some Spanish in most places). and only 5 minutes to San Pedro Church/Plaza/Market and railway station. Add another 10 for Plaza de Aŕmas, with a big church, a bigger cathedral (entrance 22 soles/$6) and an inca museum (as well as KFC and McD).
