A little further afield, Richmond (10.5 miles) is home to an 11th-century castle and is known as 'The Gateway to the Dales’, making it the perfect starting point for exploring the Wensleydale and Swaledale countryside – on foot or two wheels. For more adventures, deeper into Yorkshire, the famous North York Moors National Park is only 25 miles away, offering endless hills, valleys and moorland to uncover.
