I typically try to book a stay at a Kimpton in whichever city I travel to. I always enjoy the dog friendliness, the staff, happy hours, and rooms. Unfortunately this particular stay, the room was quite disappointing. It was very small and extremely dark. However, I will continue to be a loyal customer.

This is not a quality hotel. The lobby smells like cheap menā€™s cologne. Our room smelled like a stale ashtray even though we booked a NON smoking room. Hotel staff offered more air freshener when we complained. Really, how about a clean, non smelly room? Sheets were not changed during our four day stay. We were told they only had one housekeeper and it would be awhile to clean the room after we complained. Wi-Fi was unusable. Charged a ā€œspaā€ fee for what exactly??? The gallons of air freshener they use in the lobby? 16th street is under construction for the next year or two. The last Kimpton hotel I stayed at was nice, this was not. I guess this brand has gone downhill. Not worth what we paid at all. The only good part was the cow in the lobby.

Great experience overall. Staff was friendly, valet was fast, and rooms were private and clean. Only negative was the rooms were not ready for guests when they arrived. Check-in was at 3 and our room was not ready until 5. If I am paying for a room from 3pm to 12pm, I expect to have the room. That was 2 hours of a room we paid for with no access to.
