I had an awful experience at American Inn and Suites Ferndale and strongly advise against staying here. When I arrived late at night, the parking lot was full of people smoking, flashing lights, and women who appeared to be working there. The environment felt extremely unsafe, and I didn’t feel comfortable even getting out of my car. I immediately contacted Expedia, and their agent tried multiple times to reach the hotel, but no one was at the front desk to answer the calls. I waited in the parking lot for over an hour, trying to resolve the situation, but the hotel staff remained completely unresponsive. This was at 1 a.m., and I was forced to leave and drive to another hotel several hours away, incurring additional costs and stress. Even after repeated attempts by Expedia over several days, the hotel refused to issue a refund or even acknowledge the issue. Their complete lack of customer service and disregard for guest safety is shocking. This place is a red flag, and I would never recommend it to anyone. If you value your safety and peace of mind, stay far away from this hotel.

Upon arrival, a large group of people were gathered outside in the parking lot. They were loud, abusive, and had a threatening appearance and manner as I approached the property. Check in was smooth, but the option of a $100 refundable deposit, or a $25 ‘convenience’ fee was an odd item. I dropped off my belongings and upon returning later, found the large group still in the lot, still yelling at each other and being foul and threatening towards mostly each other, but enough looks towards my direction had me hurry to the room. Once I was in the room, noticing a stale odor of sweat in the room, and the mattress was completely concave and very uncomfortable…in the middle of the night, at about 4 am, the towel rack inside the bathroom- inexplicably- fell off the wall, waking me…I showered and left at 430am and the same group was STILL outside, now closer to the building because of rain, and I was happy to just leave the property unmolested….

How is it you support booking this property? I used to trust that a travel site had some perspective on the businesses they support. That’s clearly not the case. I’ve never felt so unsafe. Thanks Expedia. I will never use you again. You should be ashamed. I left by the way. When the elevator door opened on our floor it was cloudy and reeked of pot. I turned right around. Never saw the room. Non-smoking hotel? I had to pay $100 incidental fee. They said they couldn’t reimburse me until Monday. What? Ridiculous. I never entered the room.

This hotel isn’t in a safe neighborhood it’s not in Ferndale this hotel is literally on the ghetto dangerous side of the west in Detroit don’t go my room wasn’t ready I was scared to even walk inside. The only reason I booked was because I thought I was getting a deal not worth it stay away.

This was the worst hotel I’ve ever seen. There was blood on the sheets, food rubbed into the headboard, yellow and brown stains on the sheets, a bar of used soap with water on the tub from the last guest. The front desk was on a call from the moment we got there to the moment we left. Kept going back a forth from his call to talking to us. The ac in the room didn’t work and was extremely loud.

When I pulled in the light were flickering on and off. I drove thur the parking lot and there were so scary looking people hang out. When I looked at the room windows 1 had the screen 1/2 way pushed out and a few down had the screen cut 1/2 thru. Another room I could see in and one of the lights on the night stand was tipped over. I left and will never return.

Not the Raddison, but not the Rat-Ass Inn.
You get what you pay for, it's a little hood but not too hood if you know what I'm sayin'. Sometimes it smells like cigs and weed, sometimes it smells like some dank ass Indian food. The people at the desk are very nice and I've never seen any bugs. My go-to hotel in the greater Detroit area.

This was the worst experience I ever had. They had burn holes in their sheets and blankets. They had stains on the sheets. And when I asked for more sheets they just gave me more stained sheets. The vending machine has expired candy. The staff is negligent and lack any courtesy or understandable communication. They did not provide another room or refund.
