Delightful mid-row thatched cottage in beautiful sleepy Dorset village.

Set in a row of four thatched cottages on a rural village road, this classic cob cottage retains many original features. Downstairs you enter into raised flag-floored area which leads down a step into beamy sitting/dining room with ceramic floor. In the room next to the sitting/dinning room there is a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher. Just up a couple of steps from the sitting/dinning room is the Bathroom (bath with shower over) and toilet. Please be aware that sadly log burner in the property is for aesthetic purposes only as it is decommissioned. Upstairs has 3 Bedrooms: a double, a twin plus a small single with reduced height at the eaves. Outside, there is a secluded garden with shrub borders, wooden fence, greenhouse and owner's garden sheds. Parking is on village street. You are also a 2 minute walk to the local pub, The New Inn.

Welcome cooked family meals are available to pre-order, these are freshly prepared by the pub chefs so why not have a Cottage Pie or Thai Vegetable Curry or Lasagne or Fish Pie waiting for you when you arrive to just heat up, with a chilled glass of wine or two already waiting in the fridge. You could order a meal for every night so no hassle finding the local shop or cooking!! Meals are made in a traditional family oven dish, and serve 6 standard portions, they will be left in the fridge for your arrival and cost £20 each, wine can be pre-ordered to, with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot white wine, Merlot and Shiraz in red, these are £15 a bottle, and must be pre-ordered by email. West Knighton is a great base for many countryside walks, and a short drive to the Jurassic Coast and if needed many many family attractions. Or even, the historic Roman town Durnovaria, or as we know it today, Dorchester. Local beaches in the area include Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Weymouth, Studland, Bournemouth and Poole (all around 30 minutes or less drive). Walking is a delight and the area has comprehensive footpaths and bridleways over the surrounding countryside and along the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. West Knighton is a delightful village and civil parish in south Dorset, England, situated 3 miles southeast of the county town Dorchester. It has an 11th-century church and a village pub. In the 2011 census the civil parish had a population of 375. TV, DVD, WIfi, sheets, towels and garden also supplied.

We had a lovely time in Dorset and found Middle Cottage delightful. Stacey was an excellent host, helpful and friendly. The village was very quiet, so we were able to relax, but was also conveniently located - close to the main Jurassic Coast beaches and Dorchester. The food and the service at the New Inn were both fantastic - we highly recommend dining there.

A Home from Home
A quaint thatched cottage :,a peaceful “home from home”. We loved the location-perfect for our visits to Corfe, Bovington and Lulworth cove. Our stay was enhanced by time sat in the lovely garden in the Dorset sunshine . The cottage had a well-equipped kitchen for all our needs and a well-stocked supply of board games and outdoor games comprised of badminton and boules. Just a word of warning - particularly for the elderly with mobility issues- there is only one ,though well-equipped, bathroom with a toilet downstairs ,which might prove a problem during the night. Finally, although we probably could have contacted the owner - the television reception during our stay was non-existent(however,a well-stocked dvd collection was provided as were cds ) . All- in -all a wonderful venue for our short stay . Thank you .

Beautiful Cottage
The cottage was nice and cozy and very much in the English style. However it had plenty of room for our family of four. It was a traditional thatched roof cottage in a charming small village. The inside was well equipped and it had a beautiful back garden. There is an excellent pub within a 2-minute walk down the street which we also found be be a great amenity.

Used as a base for a walking holiday in Dorset.
Lovely property in a central location, ideal for day trips to the coast, or inland to places of interest. Listed as “sleeps 5”. We thought it would be a bit cramped for 5 people, especially as there was no storage space in the bedrooms (we used the twin as a dressing room). The kitchen was FILTHY! Didn’t look like it had been cleaned at all… first impression was the work surface was actually STICKY! The microwave was dirty inside, the dishwasher STANK! One of the pans had dried food inside it, everything we used had to be washed before use! Fortunately we ate out every day, so just breakfast at the cottage.
