We stayed as we were attending a wedding nearby. Lovely hotel & beautiful grounds. Staff in restaurant were lovely. Felt the swimming pool area needed some updates- it was ok but not the best for this style of hotel

Positive things first. The main building front of house was nice. Bar staff and breakfast staff stood out. They were so friendly and helpful. Really disappointed with our stay. On arriving the hotel looked lovely from the outside. But on entering very tired hotel. Our room was awful for the amount of money we paid. £200 a night. Chipped furniture. No character at all. Very tired. Curtain hanging off. Gaps in the back door. Hallways really need decorating. Curtains stained. Outside lots of work needed to bring it up to standard. Breakfast ok but room not set up in bar from night before so bottles left on tables. It’s a shame because it really could be lovely.

We arrived at the hotel quite late, following our flight from Gatwick, checking in at around 11:30 PM. Despite the hour, the staff greeted us warmly, providing attentive service that made the check-in process seamless. The hotel’s gracious hospitality extended to accommodating a late check-out the following morning, which was much appreciated. Our room was both clean and comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep—at least initially. Unfortunately, the window faced the laundry/ goods delivery area, and we were disturbed early by the sound of loud machinery. Considering the size of the hotel and its apparent low occupancy, we felt this was a slight oversight in guest comfort on the part of management. Aside from this, our stay was enjoyable. We took advantage of the gym and pool facilities, which, though a bit dated, were pleasant to use. We also ventured to the nearby Wooton Hatch pub for a delightful lunch, conveniently located just at the top of the drive

On arrival we had to park in the overflow car park some distance from reception. When we checked in we were advised there was no room in the restaurant that evening and that we should have booked a table beforehand. This was not advised to us when we booked. This was extremely disappointing as it was our forty fifth wedding anniversary. The room was okay but no air conditioning and there was a fan going that simply blew hot air around. We wouldn’t recommend this hotel from our experience.

Our room was very hot although we opened the window. The temperature outside the room was comfortable but not excessive. There was an air cooler in the room but no instructions as to how to operate it. I took it to reception who explained it; even when operating, it struggled to counter the room temperature. On our departure we mentioned the problem; she stated that there was a project to install air conditioning in relevant rooms. A pity as it spoilt what was otherwise an excellent stay.
