Car broke down
This hotel was amazingly accommodating. Our car broke down 60 miles away and we were towed to Douglas and had to get a hotel. They let us stay a little longer the next day and then let us hang out in their immense lobby, gazing at their stained glass windows created by a student of Tiffany’s. The prices are also very reasonable.

Excellent value, sweet little historic room, friendly front desk. There is a little plug-in fireplace kept in the closet to be pulled out for chilly nights and ambiance. A memorable and pleasant stay.

Very beautiful hotel and rooms were newly remodeled but the elevator has to be operated by the front desk person so if they are busy then you have to wait or take the grand staircase which I couldn’t do because of weak legs and no laundry service so I found a nice laundromat not far away that was very clean and reasonably priced. I was not aware from the hotels YELP profile that the hotel restaurant was under construction until I checked in and the bar was not open until 4pm each day so I had to travel to find breakfast or lunch each day of the 4 days I stayed. Housekeeping was super quick in cleaning my room.

not for me ...but great ambiance quiet if you like
beautiful hotel; town super quiet thought more things to do ...but get it memorial day holiday but even though hardly any ppl in the streets. Bed a little too soft for my taste but we all have different taste and toilet seat way too low. but all in all I would stay there again

The Gadsden Hotel in Douglas is certainly one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in. Founded in 1907, it has room numbers hand-carved into its doors, a spacious lobby with polished stone pillars and stairs, a stunning stained large glass window with a landscape theme inspired by the Sonoran desert, misters that subtlely pump sweet spice scents into the air, and spacious rooms and public areas. If you are ever staying overnight in this border town, I definitely recommend a stay at this gem of a hotel. The staff is great, too: when I expressed a concern about my aging mother navigating the large polished stone stairs, fearing that could cause a fall that could seriously injure her, they readily offered to work the manual elevator for her (there are no rooms on the ground floor, here) whenever I asked. Really liked it here!

The hotel is historical very old, but is new renew, is beautiful. I really like it and my family too. The bed are comfortable and everything was clean. We take a lot of pictures is unique we’re very happy. Thank you.
