Creek-Side Living In The Pennsylvania Elk Range

Sitting at the end of a quiet country lane, only yards from the water's edge, Camp Eagle's Nest is a peaceful haven with spectacular views of the mountains as well as the Driftwood branch of the Sinnemahoning Creek. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath cabin can accommodate a family looking for an escape from their everyday routine, or is cozy enough for a couple seeking a romantic retreat. Outdoors enthusiasts will enjoy the close proximity of trout streams and state forest lands.

Nestled in the Pennsylvania Elk Range, Camp Eagle's Nest is a perfect location for elk watchers, anglers, hunters, bird watchers, and nature enthusiasts. Whether you are canoeing the Sinnemahoning, looking for elk sheds, watching for the frequently sighted bald eagle, golfing at the Emporium Country Club, hiking one of the many nearby trails or just breathing in the mountain air, Camp Eagle's Nest truly embodies what a "getaway" should be.

Renovated extensively, the owners wanted to make the interior of Camp Eagle's Nest is an immersion in nature as well. Using trees harvested in Pennsylvania, each room has a unique ambiance. To bring the outdoors inside, the owners carefully chose decor with rustic detail such as the stone work on the fireplace with a live edge mantel, decorative game mounts, and live edge trim throughout the cabin.

Though the feel of the cabin is rustic, guests will still have all of the modern amenities they enjoy at home such as a fully-stocked, modern kitchen, a washer and dryer, WiFi and cable television.

We would love for you to join as for your next vacation, and experience a true "getaway!"

Great Family Fun and Relaxing
Loved this property and provided the much needed reprieve from the hustle and bustle of back home. I saw many different animals every morning while sitting on the provided bench while drinking my morning coffee.

Elk County, God's Country...
This House is the most peaceful place that I have ever visited with my family. The water is not so deep that I have to worry about my grandchildren The kitchen is huge, and the table is nice and big enough to play games. There is no crowd, just my family hanging out. This is the 2nd time we rented, and we will be back again... It does not have all the expensive trappings that cost so much with kids. We have to entertain each other.

Great Location
The location of this cabin is excellent. We enjoyed sitting outside by the stream and listening to the running water and enjoying the view. The fishing was good, the best fishing spot is right outside the back door. The stream is stocked with trout but we only caught small mouth bass. The restaurants listed on the site page needs to be updated. None of the restaurants listed were open for business. We did find 2 excellent restaurants nearby, The Driftwood Saloon and Grille, and the Bennezett Hotel. There was no dumpster near the property, so we just left the trash bag on the front porch. We saw lots of wildlife, elk, deer, turkey, eagles, ducks, rabbits, and squirrels. There is a great bike trail that runs between Emporium and St. Mary's. We rode around 25 miles round trip. the bike trail runs through woods along a creek with wetlands. It's a great place to just drive through the mountains and enjoy the scenery. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Fun weekend!
Loved the location. It was quiet and peaceful. Enjoyed watching the river while eating. We had kayaks, people on tubes floating by and saw some deer. The house isn’t real big, but for 4 adults and our Westie, it was perfect. Great porch with a view. We’ll go back again! Information regarding bedding and linens needs to be posted on the original web page.

Inaccurate listing
The landlord didn’t disclose all the costs honestly. On the day we are checking in, they sent message saying for bedding (linen/pillow/quilt) needs extra fee. But as a hostel/ hotel stay, this shall be the basic product instead of supplemental charge to the customers, especially they didn’t mention until the customer had paid and on the way to the place.

Mother's Day weekend getaway
We were super happy with mostly everything about our stay. The few things we wished would've been just a little better were communications. Didn't receive answers to questions until prompted message was sent just before we had to leave so it left us guessing. Also we packed ribeye steaks for dinner knowing there was a chance for rain and cooking over the fire pit was chancing it we felt okay because a grill was listed!! Well the grill wouldnt lite and was falling apart on the inside in our hands, no answer to help us so we held an umbrella over the fire pit started a fire and got soaked cooking, at least they got cooked i guess. The AC units were not in the windows and there were no fans so nights time got really toasty, next time we'll have to remember fans!! Short a place setting for our group so someone had to eat off a cookie tray for a plate! The fire place wouldnt turn on, no biggy read in reviews it didn't work. All and all we had fun, we will come stay again(pack our own charcoal grill), the playground, the fishing, the stream, the elk, and we painted some rocks to add to their guest rock collection!! We truly enjoyed our stay minus the tiny bumps that we made the best of and its is a beautiful place and area!!!

Peaceful
We had a wonderful stay! It was very quiet and peaceful. The house is as described, cozy and nice. As well as very clean. Furniture and beds were comfortable. The table by all the windows was a favorite place to sit. The water was very high and moving fast, so no fishing took place. There is a playground up the road which the kids loved! The fireplace didn’t work for us, but everything else was wonderful.

Great for a quiet Weekend getaway
This property is extremely neat and clean! The dinning room with the windows facing the river was our absolute favorite part! Beautiful even in the dead of winter! This property is not too far from some local bars that are super welcoming and all have wonderful food! We can’t wait to try out this place in the warmer months too!

Elk Getaway
Lovely, quaint cottage away from busy everyday life. A short drive to plenty of elk, eagles visited everyday on river at your back door. Very nice small town bar- restaurant down the road 10 minutes away. Some businesses are seasonal, but we had no problem finding good food in the area. The cottage is furnished with a very nice updated kitchen if you just want to stay and chill cook your own meals. The owner is very nice and on top of any problem that may arise. My wife is already talking about a return stay. Told he we have to go back because we forgot to sign the register book. Great price and everything you need for a quiet getaway.

Elk viewing
We had a good weekend and saw several elk. We would have preferred a cabin in the woods and a bit closer to Benezette, but it was a nice rental. With the exception of the windowsills and blinds it was quite clean. I’m very picky as we used to have a bed & breakfast.

Cozy, Clean, and Relaxing!
This property exceeded my expectations. From the photos, I expected the rooms to be small but there was plenty of space. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and pots/pans. It was secluded enough to where there was very minimal traffic but close enough (30 min max) to Emporium and Benezette so we were able to get everything we needed. Although it was too cold to go in, the noise from the creek was very relaxing and peaceful. Can't wait to visit again! Note: If your vehicle is 4-wheel drive capable, I recommend driving up and visiting the "Top of the World" and "Fred Woods Trail". There's no GPS signal so directions are: Take a right, cross the bridge, cross the railroad tracks, and immediately take a left onto Mason Hill Rd. Now, this road is nicknamed Suicide Slope so do not attempt to drive this when it's wet, without 4-wheel drive, if you're under the influence, or in the winter. This road is one lane and whoever is on the mountain-side (not drop-off side) will need to pull over and yield to oncoming traffic. You'll go up for a while, veer slightly left, and then you'll eventually hit Fred Woods Trail (trail on right, parking lef). It can be muddy but is very beautiful (the hike is between 4-5 miles total). If you continue straight, eventually the overlook will be on your left. When leaving the overlook, turn left, continue straight (for a while) and you'll reach the other end of Mason Hill Rd. Turn left and you'll loop back to the property in about 20-30 minutes.
