Wonderful Property
Spent the weekend here, very nice place to stay, with lots of room for everyone. Having the golf cart available was great, and made getting to and from the lake nice. Would definitely stay again in the future!

We booked this property for three couples to attend a Virginia Tech Football Game. The property is absolutely beautiful. The house had everything our group needed. I only wish we could've spent more time on the property. I'd love to return when the weather is a little warmer, so we can enjoy the lake.

We had an amazing stay! The lake is great! The house was clean and fully stocked. We were able to celebrate my daughters graduation and enjoy a mini vacation at the lake. Overall, a great time. The only issue was the wifi was weak.

Good Country Retreat but not for a Group with a Schedule
Was looking for a house that could support at least three couples attending a reunion event at Virginia Tech, a 35-minute drive away. Three bedrooms each have a double bed and one has two twins. But there are only two bathrooms, each with only a single vanity. No other couples joined us for the weekend which was just as well as it took one bathroom each to get ready for our events each day. A larger group staying here would need to allow lots of time for the sharing of the two bathrooms in preparation of keeping to a departure schedule. One bedroom was downstairs across the hall from one bathroom, which was convenient. The other three bedrooms and the other bathroom were upstairs, and the stairs are tricky. It is a curving set with a handrail on one side, with not much depth the steps. This couple in our mid-sixties felt very uncomfortable using these stairs. The property sits in a beautiful area, though you can barely see a finger of Claytor Lake, and it was not clear where the property line was as far as use of the boat dock; we may have been enjoying the view from the neighbor's dock. There was a golf cart in the driveway when we arrived. Information in the house said it was for the use of guests, and rules were listed; however, no key was provided, and it did not work for us. It would have been nice for driving to the lake's edge. One nice bonus, each morning we were greeted with a small herd, 10 to 12, of deer enjoying the lawn. The 3-star rating is no reflection on the property but on the value received for the price. We did not use most of the amenities, but still paid for them because of the pricing structure. I am not likely to do this again.

Felt like home away from home...
We had a wonderful time at the Lake House! The house was so clean, cozy, and well-stocked with everything we needed. The dock was great for jumping and fishing (the teenagers caught a big catfish on our last night)...and the shallow swimming area was nice for the little ones. There was very little boat traffic, so it was very peaceful by the water. It was super easy to rent a boat for the day and tie it up to the dock. We especially enjoyed the frequent visits from a family of deer and the lightning bug lightshows each evening. Even rainy days were a pleasure because of the covered front porch and ample seating areas throughout the home. The only minor thing that would have made our stay even better would have been bringing our own comfy pillows. We loved our time at the Lake House!

Our family just loves this place so much, this is our second time visiting the lake. The house has everything you need and it’s location on the lake is amazing. Our kids had a blast swimming and fishing. We also visited nearby Randolph Park where the kids enjoyed the playground and waterpark. We will definitely be back! Thank you for a memorable vacation!

Perfect location for attending wedding at Claytor Lake State Park
Our multigenerational family stayed at the lake house for a weekend while attending a wedding at Claytor Lake SP. The house is minutes from the park and gave us so much more room than hotel rooms. The place was spotless. Nice to have sheets and towels included as well as basic cleaning supplies and soaps. We wish we had more time to enjoy the property! Highly recommend!

Private Family Getaway
We have rented many VRBO properties and this jewel is one of the best. Well maintained, very clean, stocked with any necessity you could possibly imagine. The golf cart was perfect for getting to and from the boat dock. We hope to return for more family fun next year. (Perhaps create a family tradition)

The lake access and picnic area were user friendly with plenty of room for our hammocks and kayaks. We were able to play in the water and dock our boat by day and then gather for night time fires. We had plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably. There was ample setting and relaxing within the house. The kitchen was well equipped. I cannot say enough positive about the experience for our family gathering. The golf cart was fabulous for accessing the property. With small children and forgetful adults, it was a bonus. We will visit again!!

Wonderful lake house
We had a fantastic few days celebrating our friends 50th birthday. The weather didn't cooperate but it was still warm so it didn't stop us going out on the kayaks and it was dry enough for us to have a couple of fire pits. The location is stunning, so many deer every day and wonderful views when on the lake. The golf cart was an added bonus, we did originally think it was a bit strange to have a golf cart just for the property but after walking up from the lake / fire pit to the house a couple of times, we realised it was a necessity! The kids of course loved it. The house was very clean which given these COVID times was reassuring and also the kitchen was very well equipped. Since we only ordered out once (pizza from a local restaurant - very nice by the way), and cooked the rest of the time this was much appreciated. Some of the owners live in the property next door and stopped by a couple of times. I'm sure if we did have any issues they would have helped us very quickly. The only recommendation to the owners would be to not have quite so many 'do not' signs all over the house. We understood the septic tank ones given the damage they can cause but it did feel that everywhere we looked, we were being told not to do something. Obviously could be because they've had issues with renters before. We would go back again in a heartbeat, ideally when it isn't raining quite so much! Thank you for sharing your home.
